Associate Professor/Professor- Tenure Stream in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at University of Pittsburgh

The Department of Otolaryngology and the Pittsburgh Hearing Research Center (PHRC) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine are recruiting a leader in hearing research for a full-time, tenure-stream faculty position at the Associate Professor or Professor level. We welcome candidates who advance our mechanistic understanding of hearing, and/or who work on the understanding, diagnosis, or treatment of hearing loss and related disorders. Exceptional Assistant Professor candidates with a clearly emerging leadership profile will also be considered. Faculty rank will be based on qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in any of the fields of neuroscience, molecular/cell biology/biochemistry, cognitive and neural systems, computational science, communication science, bioengineering, genetics, epidemiology, and data science. We are seeking an exceptional scientist with an established vigorous independent research program focused on hearing, hearing loss, or related disorders.

The Institute brings basic scientists, clinician-scientists, and clinical care together in one location, co-locating neurotology, audiology, vestibular medicine, and basic/translational hearing research, so that research and patient care can directly inform one another rather than operate separately. Our hearing research community is further supported by certificate graduate programs and NIH-funded training grants (https://phrc.pitt.edu/education-training) dedicated to the training of the next generation of hearing and vestibular scientists in basic and translational research.

The faculty position is within the vibrant and highly interactive basic, translational and clinical; neuroscience research community of the University of Pittsburgh, including the Department of Neurobiology (https://www.neurobio.pitt.edu/), the UPMC Vision Institute (http://www.upmc.com/services/eye), the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (http://www.cnup.pitt.edu), the Pittsburgh Institute for Neurodegenerative disorders (http://www.pind.pitt.edu) and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (http://www.upmc.com/about/facts/pages/default.aspx). Successful candidates will join an active auditory research community with diverse colleagues across the University of Pittsburgh and the adjacent Carnegie Mellon University whose research spans human clinical and behavioral research, auditory cognitive neuroscience, and systems, cellular and molecular neuroscience.
