Heavy Equipment Operator - 1st Shift in Circleville, Ohio at American Wood Fibers, Inc

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: Operates safely and efficiently to optimize the production and shipping of wood flour and shavings.

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor

• Operates various mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner unloading various raw material trailers and providing raw materials to the operational systems.
• Maintain mobile equipment as per the SOP (including blowdowns and routine service).
• Responsible for accurate record keeping in moving material into and out of the raw room.
• Supports the yardman as needed.
• Assist with keeping plant organized and clean on a daily basis. Workstation and equipment cleanup are required daily and during production runs if needed.
  

1. Quality

• Maintains and verifies that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated to supervisors, production employees, office personnel and customers.
• Assist in implementation of new procedures as needed.

1. Safety

• Operates equipment as per the SOP, following directions as provided.
• Keeps work area clean and organized.
• Utilizes all of the required PPE for the task being performed.
• THIS IS A HIGH DUST environment and the equipment must be properly maintained while in operation.
• Help to keep others safe in the work place by looking out for them and participating in safety related improvements.
• Follow the safety protocols for the use of mobile equipment.

1. Other Responsibilities

• Availability to work on any assigned shift including scheduled overtime (including Sunday).
• Establishes personal growth and works with fellow employees towards continuous improvement and teamwork.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Physical capability to bend, squat, or stoop
• Previous mobile equipment and/or forklift preferred

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to work in extreme weather
• Ability to wear PPE gear correctly
• Ability to lift 25/50/80lbs regularly
• Ability to respond quickly to sounds
• Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
• Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
