FLOW MEASUREMENT TECHNICIAN

Job Summary:

The Flow Measurement Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, accurate, and reliable measurement of natural gas production through the installation, calibration, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical measurement equipment. This position works closely with Measurement, Production, Automation, and other field personnel to maintain measurement integrity, resolve equipment and data issues, and ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures, measurement standards, and safety requirements.

Essential Duties:

• Perform scheduled inspections, calibrations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of natural gas measurement equipment, including electronic flow measurement systems, Barton chart recorders, transmitters, temperature devices, tubing, valves, and related components.
• Inspect meter runs and orifice measurement equipment; remove, inspect, clean, measure, and reinstall orifice plates while verifying proper size, condition, orientation, and installation.
• Perform differential pressure, static pressure, and temperature calibrations and troubleshoot abnormal or inaccurate measurement readings.
• Install, configure, maintain, and verify EFMs and associated equipment using laptop computers, manufacturer software, and diagnostic tools.
• Identify and correct conditions that may affect measurement accuracy, including leaks, plugging, freezing, liquid accumulation, damaged components, improper configuration, or communication issues.
• Install new measurement equipment, replace failed components, assist with upgrades from chart-based systems to electronic measurement, and remove equipment from inactive or abandoned facilities as directed.
• Collect, document, and properly handle natural gas samples in accordance with established procedures.
• Review, retrieve, and document measurement data; complete calibration records, inspection forms, work tickets, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
• Coordinate with Measurement, Production, Automation, and other personnel to resolve measurement, SCADA, communication, and field operating issues.
• Maintain measurement tools, test equipment, vehicles, parts, and supplies in safe and serviceable condition.
• Identify and promptly communicate significant measurement issues that could affect reported production volumes.
• Perform work safely, follow company procedures and measurement standards, and maintain accountability for accurate, quality work.
• This position is expected to maintain strict confidentiality of company information, employee records, and any sensitive data encountered in the course of work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Strong working knowledge of natural gas flow measurement principles, equipment, and field practices.
• Ability to install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic flow measurement equipment, Barton chart recorders, transmitters, orifice fittings, and related components.
• Proficiency using laptop computers, measurement software, electronic diagnostic tools, and calibration equipment.
• Ability to identify abnormal measurement conditions, determine probable causes, and complete or coordinate appropriate corrective action.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate calibration, inspection, maintenance, and measurement records.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize field assignments, and communicate effectively with operations, automation, supervision, and other personnel.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, accountability, and teamwork.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in instrumentation, electronics, industrial technology, oil and gas measurement, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of oil and gas field, instrumentation, measurement, automation, or closely related technical experience required.
• Direct experience with natural gas measurement equipment, electronic flow computers, calibration, orifice measurement, and troubleshooting strongly preferred.
• Must be able to demonstrate the technical knowledge and field competency necessary to independently perform assigned measurement work.
• Must meet Driver Acceptability Profile requirements.
• An equivalent combination of relevant technical training and experience may be considered.

Working Conditions:

• Work will be performed primarily in field environments with some office-based responsibilities.
• Exposure to outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise.
• PPE required in field settings; physical activity including standing, walking, bending, and lifting may be required.
• Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Occasional travel between job sites and operational locations.
