POSITION SUMMARY
-
Provide support to the laboratory by ensuring quality service through timely and courteous assistance. Support front desk duties and check-in responsibilities either in a permanent or rotating manner. Answer calls in a timely, pleasant and professional manner, schedule appointments according to laboratory guidelines, confer with patient to obtain and confirm pertinent billing and demographic information, and accurately enter patient information into system(s). Assist with verification of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance information. Assists fellow employees in identifying ways to exceed customer expectations

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Required:
-
Ability to read and follow written instructions, policies and procedures.
-
On-the-job training in necessary skills will be provided.
-
As an organizational representative must process excellent communication skills and customer service skills.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:
-
Above, plus formal coursework in Medical Terminology and advanced computing skills.

ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication during interaction with others. Incumbent must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before being allowed to perform independently. Ability to monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems. Knowledge in Medicare, Medicaid, medical insurance, ICD10 coding. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including spelling and grammar, are essential to communicate positively and professionally to individuals of all age groups and backgrounds.
