Associate Revenue Analyst in Williamsville, New York at Mainstay Maritime

Job Summary:

Responsible for the accurate and timely execution of billing activities, the effective management and collection of outstanding receivables, and the proper application of cash receipts.

Job Responsibilities:

• Apply industry-standard accounting principles to accurately recognize voyage, freight, demurrage/despatch, and other related service revenue in accordance with contractual terms and applicable accounting standards.
• Oversee the customer invoicing process for vessel operations, freight services, port charges, and fees, collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve billing accuracy and efficiency.
• Prepare and analyze comprehensive revenue-related statements and reports tied to shipping activity, vessel utilization, charter agreements, and service performance. Perform ad hoc revenue, voyage, customer, and cost analyses to provide real-time financial insights that support business decisions.
• Monitor and analyze costs associated with revenue-generating activities, including vessel operations, port expenses, fuel-related charges, and service delivery costs, identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
• Proactively identify and implement improvements in revenue accounting, billing, reconciliation, and reporting processes to increase accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.
• Engage with customers and business partners to address invoicing questions, resolve billing discrepancies, and collaborate with internal teams to negotiate and close open disputes for timely payment collection.

Preferred Education / Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of accounts receivable experience or;
• A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

• Working knowledge of internal controls and accounting principles (GAAP).
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting, trial balances (G/L and A/R) and month-end closing cycles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative results.
• Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to independently identify, define, and solve problems, set priorities, and implement solutions effectively with minimal direction or guidance.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other accounting software.
