Job Description

Privacy Implementation Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Privacy Implementation Lead based in Canada.

The Privacy Implementation Lead will play a pivotal role in translating privacy obligations into practical technical solutions and operational controls across a sophisticated, AI-powered technology platform. Working within the Legal Privacy team, this individual contributor will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Security to ensure privacy requirements are effectively implemented across products, systems, and data flows. The role combines privacy operations, technical project management, and cross-functional coordination to bridge the gap between legal guidance and real-world system behavior. You will oversee implementation workstreams, test privacy controls, document data practices, and establish scalable processes that strengthen compliance and accountability. You will also leverage AI tools and automation to improve quality assurance, streamline workflows, and enhance team efficiency. This remote-first opportunity is ideal for a technically curious, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants to make a meaningful impact on data protection and responsible technology practices.

Accountabilities:
  • Translate privacy obligations, regulatory requirements, and legal guidance into clear technical and operational requirements, defining implementation steps, ownership, dependencies, timelines, and expected outcomes.
  • Lead the operational implementation of privacy initiatives, coordinating with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Security, and other stakeholders to manage deliverables, resolve blockers, and ensure projects progress through completion.
  • Support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of privacy controls across digital properties, advertising technologies, data collection processes, and internal systems.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to understand and document data flows, system integrations, dependencies, and storage practices to support requirements related to data deletion, suppression, retention, and permitted data use.
  • Help establish reporting and analytics guidelines and define appropriate data retention requirements that balance business objectives, client needs, and privacy obligations.
  • Implement and manage privacy, compliance, tracking, and governance tools, including third-party solutions for testing and monitoring tracking technologies.
  • Test, validate, and document privacy controls, including pixels, tags, consent signals, opt-out mechanisms, deletion workflows, and data retention safeguards.
  • Establish standardized processes for privacy intake, backlog management, implementation tracking, quality assurance, testing, and reporting.
  • Identify gaps between documented privacy requirements and actual system behavior, working with relevant teams to prioritize remediation and verify that corrective measures are effective.
  • Use AI tools and automation to improve quality assurance, reduce manual effort, strengthen documentation, and increase the operational effectiveness of the Privacy team.
  • Maintain clear implementation records, technical documentation, project updates, and reporting to support transparency, accountability, and ongoing compliance.
  • Promote effective cross-functional collaboration and ensure privacy considerations are incorporated into product and technical workflows throughout implementation.
Requirements:
  • At least five years of experience in privacy operations, privacy implementation, technical program management, product operations, compliance operations, legal operations, data governance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with technical teams, including Product, Engineering, Data Science, Security, or comparable functions.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, manage dependencies, track deadlines, and drive initiatives through completion.
  • Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts such as data flows, APIs, pixels, tags, consent signals, databases, system integrations, data deletion, and retention workflows.
  • Familiarity with privacy frameworks and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, U.S. state privacy laws, consent requirements, opt-out mechanisms, data deletion rights, data retention, and privacy by design.
  • Experience implementing or managing privacy, compliance, tracking, governance, or technical workflow tools, with the ability to assess their functionality and support ongoing quality assurance.
  • Practical experience using AI tools or automation to improve operational efficiency, streamline processes, or strengthen testing and quality assurance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal, privacy, and technical requirements into clear instructions and actionable deliverables.
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail, with sound judgment and the ability to identify implementation gaps, assess risks, and recommend practical solutions.
  • A proactive, technically curious, and solution-oriented mindset, with the confidence to ask effective questions, work independently, and collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving requirements, manage competing priorities, and maintain consistent execution in a dynamic technology environment.

Additional experience considered an asset:

  • Experience in advertising technology, marketing technology, data platforms, digital measurement, tracking, or another technically complex environment.
  • Familiarity with programmatic advertising products, digital advertising infrastructure, or related data collection technologies.
  • Experience supporting pixels, tags, tracking technologies, and client-facing digital properties.
  • Previous experience implementing or managing third-party tracking technology testing, monitoring, or governance solutions.
  • Familiarity with the relevant organization's products, systems, or technical infrastructure.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary: Annual base salary ranging from CAD $114,400 to $157,300 for candidates based in Canada. Final compensation depends on relevant experience, technical skills, qualifications, and other business considerations.
  • Additional compensation opportunities: Depending on eligibility, additional compensation may include annual bonuses and equity awards.

  • Technical learning opportunities: Access to specialized programmatic advertising courses and certifications to support ongoing professional growth.
  • Family support: A comprehensive parental leave program.
  • Collaborative culture: Join a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive team that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Team engagement: Opportunities to participate in social activities and team events.
  • Inclusive recruitment: Accommodations are available upon request throughout the recruitment and selection process.
