Job Description

The Welder is responsible for fitting, welding, and fabricating metal components and assemblies in accordance with blueprints, drawings, specifications, and production requirements. This position performs precision welding and related fabrication work while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and productivity. The Welder uses appropriate welding equipment, hand tools, measuring devices, and inspection techniques to ensure completed work meets dimensional and workmanship requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and work instructions to determine job requirements.

• Measure, lay out, fit, align, and prepare metal components for welding and fabrication.

• Perform welding using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment and approved welding procedures.

• Set up welding machines, select appropriate settings, and determine the proper equipment and tools for assigned work.

• Position and secure components using clamps, fixtures, squares, rulers, calipers, and other measuring tools.

• Inspect fit-up, welds, and completed assemblies for accuracy, quality, and visible defects.

• Perform grinding, cutting, cleaning, and finishing of welded components as required.

• Complete minor repairs or rework on fabricated components and assemblies when necessary.

• Report damaged, malfunctioning, or unsafe tools and equipment to the appropriate supervisor.

• Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in safe and serviceable condition.

• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, work instructions, and quality standards.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area and support 5S and continuous improvement practices.

• Work collaboratively with fabrication, production, quality, and leadership teams to meet production schedules and quality expectations.

• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years of welding or related fabrication experience preferred.

• Experience using welding equipment, machinery, and procedures applicable to a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

• Experience using electrical and manual tools, including grinders, saws, clamps, and measuring devices.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and work instructions.

• Working knowledge of welding and fabrication safety practices and the ability to consistently follow safety requirements.

• Ability to take accurate measurements and perform basic shop calculations.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify weld defects, dimensional issues, and workmanship concerns.

• Effective problem-solving, time-management, communication, and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet established production and quality expectations.

• Relevant welding training, apprenticeship, or technical program completion preferred.

• AWS welding certification or other applicable welding certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb for extended periods during the workday.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as required.

• Ability to safely operate welding equipment, hand tools, power tools, and material-handling equipment as authorized.

• Ability to work in a manufacturing and fabrication environment with exposure to noise, heat, sparks, fumes, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding hood, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other protective equipment as required.
