POSITION TITLE: Additive Manufacturing Specialist I, II or Sr.


HOURLY PAY RANGE:

  • Additive Manufacturing Specialist I: $23.00–$30.00/hr, based on experience
  • Additive Manufacturing Specialist II: $25.00–$35.00/hr, based on experience
  • Senior Additive Manufacturing Specialist: $27.00–$40.00/hr, based on experience

SHIFT HOURS: Monday - Friday (8am to 5pm)


LOCATION: Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NY


JOB SUMMARY: The Additive Manufacturing Specialist is responsible for using a wide variety of tools and to support setup and changeover of additive manufacturing line(s) including additive machine(s), test equipment, and accessories required to support the manufacturing build schedule. Provide technical support and assist with problem-solving to reduce downtime for manufacturing equipment as assigned. Work with the maintenance team to perform maintenance and troubleshoot equipment. Identify and support improvement opportunities to reduce waste and improve efficiencies within the additive manufacturing area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Additive Manufacturing Specialist I

  • Entry level programming and operation of Additive Manufacturing equipment (sintered metal as well as plastic) and perform all required testing.
  • Maintain consistent quality and workmanship of the components processed.
  • Process paperwork accurately and neatly.
  • Complete assignments in a timely fashion, staying on task, minimize interruptions of work.
  • Understand and comply with Quality System Requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow standard safety procedures and requirements.
  • Task in and out of work orders.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures per the LSI Solutions Employee Manual.
  • Capable of searching and locating documents and work instructions in Grand Avenue Software (GAS).
  • Perform efficiently and effectively without continuous supervision.
  • Capable of understanding and interacting with the production schedule board.

Additive Manufacturing Specialist II

  • Mastery of level I Essential Functions.
  • Capable of performing all process steps for additive manufacturing.
  • Capable of assisting with Preventive Maintenance (PM’s) on equipment under the general guidance of a process technician.
  • Maintain production or manufacturing processes and equipment to minimize line downtime without supervision.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of manufacturing equipment and processes in conjunction with Lean Manufacturing efforts.
  • Provide data entry as requested by engineer or supervisor supporting SPC or other metrics related to production reports.
  • Participate in developing standard work instructions.
  • Assist in training, and coaching Additive Manufacturing Specialist I.

Senior Additive Manufacturing Specialist

  • Mastery of level II Essential Functions.
  • Capable of covering all responsibilities for team leader as required.
  • Proficient in programming setup and operation of Additive Manufacturing equipment (sintered metal as well as plastic).
  • Able to identify and resolve non-conformances.
  • Responsible for training and coaching of Additive Manufacturing Operator(s) and Specialist(s) I and II.
  • Troubleshoot production or manufacturing processes and equipment to minimize line downtime.
  • Responsible for establishing the correct process parameters for each type of printing machine and material.
  • Investigating production problems and interfacing with a variety of areas before recommending a solution.
  • Preparing product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Reviewing component designs and performing identification of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) opportunities.
  • Responsible for coordinating with the suppliers for the proper installation of new equipment and setting up proper preventive maintenance and calibration plans.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant documentation to meet company and regulatory expectations.
  • Performing other duties and specific projects as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Additive Specialist I- 0 to 3 years of hands-on experience with Additive Manufacturing preferred
  • Additive Specialist II- 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience with Additive Manufacturing in a production environment preferred.
  • Additive Specialist Senior- 8+ years of hands-on experience with Additive Manufacturing in a production environment preferred.
  • Practical experience in laser based Additive Manufacturing techniques preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • A functional technical knowledge of Magics, CAD, and slicing software as well as an understanding of build orientation strategies necessary to support 3-D printing.
  • Functional knowledge of quality assurance and testing methods.
  • MS-Office skills (MS-Word, Excel Spreadsheets).
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and team skills.
  • Working understanding of statistics and statistical applications.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
