Job Description

Who We Are
Regenerative Social Finance (RSF) has spent the last four decades proving that money can be a tool for regeneration, not just return. Since 1984, we've channeled more than $1 billion into mission-driven organizations working on healthier food systems, cleaner climates, whole-child education, and stronger communities, guided by a simple mission: change finance, finance change.

That philosophy is especially alive in our Credit & Risk team, where the work is about staying close enough to our borrowers to help them succeed.

The Opportunity
- As a Senior Associate, Portfolio Management, you'll be the person our borrowers call when things are going well and especially when they're not. You'll manage a portfolio of 20–30 commercial loans post-close, acting as a trusted financial advisor to mission-driven organizations navigating growth, change, or difficulty. Where other lenders might see a covenant breach as a problem to escalate, we see it as a conversation to have, and you'll be the one having it.

- This role blends credit discipline and genuine relationship-building. You'll report to the Senior Director, Credit & Risk, and work closely with Business Development and Loan Operations to shepherd loans from close through the life of the relationship.

What You'll Do
Portfolio Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of 20–30 borrowers, including relationship management, reporting, covenant compliance, annual reviews, and requests from borrowers

- Collect, review, and analyze financial statements, impact reporting, and covenant testing to track borrower performance and keep risk ratings current
- Perform annual reviews for borrowers in your portfolio
- Manage a portfolio that may include adversely rated loans (Watch, Special Mention, Substandard, non-accrual) with the judgment that comes with higher-risk relationships
- Conduct periodic site visits to assess borrower health and collateral condition
- Monitor delinquencies, build action plans with borrowers to resolve payment issues, and recommend risk rating changes when warranted
- Maintain accurate loan files, including reporting requirements, covenants, and other compliance items in Sageworks (Abrigo)

Underwriting
- Underwrite renewals and increases for existing relationships, and support new-business underwriting as assigned
- Apply data analysis and financial modeling to interpret trends and inform credit decisions

Impact & Credit Operations
- Support the tracking and reporting of Impact Evaluation across RSF's loan portfolio, including dashboards and Board-facing materials
- Participate in monthly Troubled Loan Committee meetings and test monthly borrowing base compliance
- Compile quarterly portfolio reporting for internal and external stakeholders

What You'll Bring
- A relational instinct: you build trust with borrowers through active listening and clear, honest communication, especially when the news requires care
- 1–3 years' commercial credit underwriting or portfolio administration experience, including cash flow analysis, financial modeling, and loan structuring
- Comfort holding complexity: you can manage higher-risk relationships without losing sight of the bigger picture
- A genuine interest in social enterprise, impact investing, or community development
- Strong organizational skills: you can juggle multiple borrower relationships and competing deadlines well

How We Work
This role is based out of our San Francisco office, with flexibility based on where you live to be remote:
- Within 35 miles of SF: Hybrid — regular in-office presence expected
- 35–75 miles from SF: In office once weekly, ideally on Thursdays (RSF's anchor day), at your manager's discretion
- Beyond 75 miles: Fully remote, working RSF's Pacific-time hours

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $80,000 per year. Final compensation is determined based on the candidate's location, experience, and skills. RSF complies with all applicable state and local pay transparency laws. In addition to base salary, RSF offers an exceptionally competitive benefits package, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous paid time off, and retirement benefits; designed to support the whole person, not just the work they do here.
