Job Description

Description:

AOE International is a non-profit organization focused on community support and development, with a strong emphasis on workforce development and education. We partner with various organizations to address social needs, including poverty, access to resources, and educational opportunities.

Teach electrical fundamentals and the EVSE and Charging Infrastructure Career Pathway: classroom and lab instruction across the Framework's six EVSE content domains, in lab groups of no more than 15. Instructors prepare participants for supervised entry-level electrical and charging work and for the electrical apprenticeship application, and supervise each cohort's job site practicum.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Deliver the EVSE modules: safety, codes and standards; fundamentals; site assessment and planning; installation and commissioning; operations, maintenance and troubleshooting; and customer communication.

• Lead hands-on work in the wiring booths: conduit bending, raceways, conductors, overcurrent protection, mounting and commissioning Level 2 chargers, and fault finding.

• Teach electrical construction fundamentals in the Construction Career Cluster foundation.

• Enforce electrical safety, lockout and tagout and NFPA 70E practices in the lab and on job sites.

• Assess participants with written tests, lab checklists and the final installation and fault-finding practical, and record results.

• Prepare participants for the apprenticeship aptitude test and credential exams with the tutoring partner.

• Supervise the job site practicum with the host's qualified electrician and collect the host's skills evaluation.

• Identify participants who are struggling, re-teach and re-assess the specific domain, and notify the case manager.

Requirements: Qualifications and experience

• Journeyman or master electrician, or electrical contractor, with five or more years of electrical construction experience.

• Recent experience installing, commissioning or servicing EV charging equipment.

• Experience training apprentices or new workers; classroom or apprenticeship teaching experience preferred.

• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, including Article 625, and NFPA 70E.

• Ability to connect with adult learners from communities underrepresented in the trades.

Training and authorization required

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction; EVITP certification held or obtained within six months of hire.

• Department authorization and equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility training before working with participants.
