Position Summary
The Director of the Leadership Lab leads Wesleyan College's downtown presence as a hub for community-engaged education, professional development, and continuing education. The Director is responsible for launching and growing Wesleyan's continuing education program, building strategic partnerships across Macon, and ensuring the Leadership Lab is an active, visible, and well-utilized extension of the College's mission.
Key ResponsibilitiesContinuing Education Program. Design, launch, and manage a portfolio of four to five short-term certificate programs each academic year. Identify market needs through employer and community input, recruit qualified instructors, set pricing and registration processes, and oversee participant experience from enrollment through completion. Build certificate programs that align with Wesleyan's mission and academic strengths, with revenue sustainability as a secondary but important goal.
Leadership Lab Operations and Programming. Ensure the Leadership Lab space is utilized at least weekly through a combination of certificate programming, community partnerships, public lectures, workshops, and other educational offerings. Develop creative uses of the space that bring meaningful educational opportunities to the Macon community and raise Wesleyan's visibility downtown.
Community Engagement and Partnerships. Cultivate relationships with Macon-area employers, nonprofits, civic organizations, faith communities, and government partners to identify educational needs and co-create programming. Represent Wesleyan College at community events and serve as a primary point of contact between the College and downtown Macon stakeholders.
Budget and Administration. Manage the Leadership Lab operating budget, including programming, marketing, and facility-related expenses. Track revenue and expenses for continuing education offerings and provide regular financial reports to the Provost. Supervise the half-time administrative support staff.
Marketing and Recruitment. Work with the Office of Marketing and Communications to promote Leadership Lab programming through digital, print, and community channels. Build and maintain a contact database of past participants, prospective students, and community partners.
Assessment and Reporting. Establish learning outcomes for certificate programs and assess participant satisfaction and impact. Provide annual reports to the Provost on program enrollment, financial performance, community engagement, and progress toward strategic goals.
Integration with Academic Programs. Coordinate with Wesleyan deans and faculty to identify opportunities for credit-bearing pathways, faculty teaching opportunities in continuing education, and connections between Leadership Lab programming and degree programs. Explore stackable credentials where appropriate.
QualificationsRequired
Bachelor's degree; three or more years of relevant experience in continuing education, program management, community engagement, nonprofit leadership, or a closely related field; demonstrated ability to build partnerships and launch new initiatives; strong organizational, communication, and budget management skills; willingness to work some evenings and weekends as programming requires.
Preferred
Master's degree; experience with adult learners or workforce development; established network in the Macon or Middle Georgia community; experience with marketing and enrollment management; familiarity with higher education.
