This executive-level role offers the opportunity to lead and shape a global trademark strategy for a highly recognized international brand portfolio. You will oversee complex trademark operations spanning pharmaceutical, consumer, and medical product categories across multiple jurisdictions worldwide. The position combines strategic legal leadership with operational innovation, leveraging modern technologies and AI-powered tools to enhance portfolio management and brand protection efforts. Working closely with cross-functional teams across legal, regulatory, commercial, and R&D functions, you will play a central role in safeguarding intellectual property and supporting long-term business growth. The role also involves leading anti-counterfeit initiatives, advising senior leadership, and driving trademark strategy in a fast-moving global environment. - Lead and manage a large-scale global trademark portfolio, including pharmaceutical product names, consumer brands, trade dress, and medical or surgical product marks across numerous international jurisdictions.
- Develop and execute comprehensive trademark strategies covering clearance, prosecution, maintenance, enforcement, and portfolio optimization aligned with commercial priorities.
- Oversee trademark clearance and naming strategies for new pharmaceutical and consumer products in collaboration with regulatory, marketing, medical, and commercial stakeholders.
- Implement and enhance AI-driven trademark management processes and automation tools to improve operational efficiency and portfolio oversight.
- Direct global relationships with external trademark counsel, ensuring strategic consistency, quality, and cost management.
- Design and lead anti-counterfeit and brand protection initiatives across online marketplaces, social platforms, customs enforcement, and litigation channels when necessary.
- Serve as the primary advisor on trademark-related matters to senior leadership, marketing teams, R&D, business development, and regulatory functions.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and post-acquisition intellectual property integration activities.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing trademarks team while fostering a proactive and collaborative legal culture.
- Present portfolio performance, enforcement strategies, and emerging risks to executive leadership and board-level stakeholders.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with active U.S. bar membership required.
- Minimum of 7 years of trademark law experience, including substantial experience in-house or advising global pharmaceutical, consumer goods, or medical device organizations.
- Deep expertise in pharmaceutical and consumer product naming, trademark clearance, and global trademark portfolio management.
- Demonstrated experience managing large and complex international trademark portfolios, ideally exceeding 10,000 marks.
- Strong understanding of anti-counterfeit enforcement strategies, including online platform enforcement, customs recordation, and related legal actions.
- Experience leveraging AI-powered trademark tools, automation technologies, or advanced trademark management platforms such as Anaqua.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across legal, commercial, regulatory, marketing, and executive teams.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to advise executive stakeholders on strategic IP matters.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and post-merger IP integration activities in multinational environments is highly valued.
- Competitive salary range of approximately $280,000–$320,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
