About the Role:
As a Part-Time Bank Teller in Culpeper, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, delivering exceptional service while accurately processing a variety of financial transactions. Your role is critical in maintaining the trust and satisfaction of our clients by ensuring all transactions are handled efficiently and securely. You will contribute to the overall success of the branch by identifying customer needs and referring them to appropriate banking products and services. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Ultimately, your efforts will support the bank’s commitment to providing a positive customer experience and fostering long-term relationships within the community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle cash accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends if required.
- Prior experience in customer service or cash handling preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a bank teller or in a financial services role.
- Familiarity with banking software and point-of-sale systems.
- Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards.
- Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish, to better serve diverse customers.
- Certification in banking or financial services is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with routine banking transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and loan payments.
- Verify customer identification and ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements during all transactions.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services by understanding customer needs and providing appropriate referrals to banking specialists.
- Resolve customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally, escalating complex issues to management when necessary.
- Adhere to all security procedures to protect customer information and prevent fraud.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current with banking regulations, products, and technology.
Skills:
The required skills such as strong communication and basic math are essential for accurately processing transactions and effectively interacting with customers on a daily basis. Attention to detail ensures that all financial activities are conducted securely and in compliance with regulatory standards. Preferred skills like familiarity with banking software enhance efficiency and accuracy in transaction processing and record-keeping. Problem-solving and customer service skills are used to address and resolve client inquiries, contributing to a positive banking experience. Additionally, bilingual abilities enable the teller to communicate effectively with a broader customer base, fostering inclusivity and community trust.
Location & Schedule:
- This position will be based at the CulpeperBranch. Flexibility to support other branches occasionally is desired.
- Schedules are provided as far as advance as possible and employees are scheduled for a minimum of 15-20 hours per week.
- Candidates must have availability during bank operating hours and plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before their shift.
- Bank operating hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30-4:00, Friday 8:30-6:00 and Saturday mornings 9-12; for this position, Friday evening and Saturday morning shifts are required in this role.
- Flexibility in scheduling is available and also expected in return to support the team during vacations or sick leave.
Hourly rate listed is a starting rate and may be higher depending on experience and qualifications.
