About the Role:

The Grocery Store Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the grocery store, directly contributing to customer satisfaction and business profitability. This position involves overseeing daily store activities, managing staff, and maintaining high standards of product quality and store presentation. The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in implementing sales strategies, inventory control, and compliance with health and safety regulations. They act as a key point of contact for employees and customers, resolving issues promptly and fostering a positive work environment. Ultimately, the role is essential in driving store performance, enhancing customer experience, and supporting the growth and reputation of the grocery store within the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in retail or grocery store operations, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and point-of-sale systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with staff scheduling and labor cost management.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and certifications.
  • Proficiency in inventory management
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Store Manager in daily operational management, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate store staff to deliver excellent customer service and maintain productivity.
  • Monitor inventory levels, coordinate stock replenishment, and ensure proper product rotation to minimize waste.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations to maintain a safe shopping environment.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints efficiently to uphold store reputation.
  • Support merchandising efforts by organizing displays and promotions to maximize sales.
  • Prepare and analyze sales reports, labor schedules, and other operational documentation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality of products.
