Steindler Orthopedic Clinic is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and motivated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our growing orthopedic team. Requirements:- Serve as an integral member of the healthcare team, assisting wherever needed to support clinic operations and patient care.
- Review patient charts prior to appointments and prepare exam rooms and physician work areas.
- Escort patients to exam rooms and diagnostic areas, obtain and document vital signs, allergies, and medical information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians with injections, aspirations, minor office procedures, and other treatments.
- Remove dressings, staples, and sutures, and apply dressings as directed.
- Educate patients on exercises, post-procedure instructions, and physician recommendations.
- Process laboratory specimens and complete requisition forms according to provider orders.
- Monitor post-operative patient schedules and communicate physician instructions and medication information.
- Call in prescriptions as directed and accurately document patient communications in the medical record.
- Complete and process FMLA, disability, and other patient-related forms.
- Participate in phone triage, return patient calls promptly, and maintain accurate chart documentation.
- Clean and disinfect exam rooms, stock supplies, maintain equipment, and properly handle biohazard materials.
- Rotate and manage medication samples in accordance with clinic policies.
- Maintain and sterilize instruments and assist with daily operation of office equipment.
- Attend and actively participate in bimonthly team meetings.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, Medicare, Medicaid, and all applicable regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors, administration, or physicians.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
- Current CPR Certification
- Proficient computer and electronic medical record (EMR) skills
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent:
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching throughout the workday
- Lifting, moving, or assisting patients and objects weighing up to and occasionally exceeding 50 pounds
