About the Role:
The Transportation Manager - Field is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the transportation operations within a designated area, ensuring that all logistics processes run smoothly and efficiently. This role involves managing a team of drivers and logistics personnel, coordinating schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. The Transportation Manager will analyze transportation data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance service delivery and reduce costs. Additionally, this position requires effective communication with various stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and internal departments, to ensure seamless operations. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to enhance the overall efficiency of transportation services while maintaining high standards of safety and customer satisfaction.
The "Field" Transportation Manager is often in the yard, handling more yard production oversight, with greater exposure to safety concerns as that of the "Onsite" Transportation Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in transportation management or logistics operations.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with fleet management software and transportation management systems.
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CLTD).
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily transportation operations, including route planning and scheduling.
- Manage and lead a team of drivers and logistics staff, providing training and support as needed.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Analyze transportation metrics and data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate logistics and resolve any transportation-related issues.
