This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Representative, Absence Leave Manager based in the United States.
This role is centered on managing and administering employee leave cases in a fast-paced, service-driven environment where accuracy, compliance, and empathy are essential. You will be responsible for evaluating eligibility for various types of leave, including FMLA, PFML, company-paid leave, and ADA-related absences. The position requires close coordination with employees, employers, and medical professionals to gather documentation, assess information, and ensure timely and compliant decisions. You will also manage ongoing leave cases, handle extensions, and support return-to-work planning when appropriate. Strong communication and organizational skills are critical, as the role involves balancing multiple cases while meeting strict service timelines. This is a highly impactful position where your decisions directly affect employees during important life events.
- Manage a high-volume caseload of employee leave requests, including FMLA, PFML, ADA, and company-specific leave programs, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Determine eligibility for leave benefits by reviewing medical documentation, policy provisions, and compliance requirements within defined timeframes.
- Coordinate with employees, employers, healthcare providers, and external partners to collect and validate necessary information for leave administration.
- Monitor ongoing leave cases, process extensions, and reassess eligibility based on updated documentation or changing circumstances.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and company regulations while maintaining service quality standards and client performance guarantees.
- Support return-to-work planning by collaborating with vocational specialists and stakeholders to facilitate full or modified duty transitions.
- Maintain accurate case records and documentation while ensuring consistent communication and status updates to all involved parties.
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- 1+ year of professional experience in an administrative, HR, insurance, or customer service-related role.
- Experience with FMLA, state leave programs, or disability/absence management preferred.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret policies and medical documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency while maintaining a strong customer-focused mindset.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, compliance frameworks, and insurance or legal concepts is a plus.
- Competitive salary range of $37,000 to $52,000, with eligibility for discretionary annual bonuses.
