Now Hiring: Acute Care / ER Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Newcastle, WY | Department: Hospital / Acute / ER | FLSA: Non-Exempt
Provide skilled, compassionate nursing care across our hospital acute care unit and emergency room. As an Acute Care / ER Registered Nurse (RN), you'll assess and monitor patients, administer medications, coordinate diagnostic testing, and collaborate closely with providers and the interdisciplinary team. What You’ll Do
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of Weston County Health Services (WCHS)
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for acute and emergency patients
- Maintain accurate, complete patient records, documentation, and required reports
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered, monitor for side effects/reactions, and report concerns promptly
- Monitor and record vital signs and clinical information; recognize and report symptoms or changes in condition
- Order and coordinate medical diagnostic and clinical tests as required and communicate results appropriately
- Provide physical support with activities of daily living as needed (mobility, hygiene, toileting, repositioning)
- Collect specimens for laboratory testing as assigned
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families; communicate discharge and follow-up instructions as appropriate
- Coordinate with providers, ancillary departments, and community resources to ensure efficient, seamless care
- Maintain a professional, organized, and clean work environment; report hazards and replenish supplies as needed
- Adhere to accreditation, compliance, confidentiality, safety, and infection control standards (Standard and Isolation Precautions)
- Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and ongoing professional development; support quality improvement activities
- Provide oversight and direction to CNAs as assigned to ensure tasks are completed timely and safely
What We’re Looking For
- Current Wyoming Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associates or Bachelors degree)
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (or ability to obtain/maintain as required)
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and care-planning skills; able to determine appropriate action in complex situations
- Proficiency with medication administration, monitoring for adverse reactions, and safe patient care practices
- Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail; ability to maintain accurate patient records and reports
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to educate patients and collaborate with families, providers, and the care team
- Ability to work independently with normal supervision, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple simultaneous responsibilities
- Commitment to confidentiality, compliance, and ethical practice; professional judgment and integrity
- Ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including reaching, bending, stooping, frequent standing/walking, and occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Willing to assist in other departments as business needs require
- Flexibility for occasional after-hours calls and schedule variations as needed
