Job Description

Summary, Role: Deli Clerks provide fast, friendly, and accurate service for our customers. Accuracy in building the “Perfect Sandwich” for the customer. Clerks must adhere to all food safe handling regulations. Clerks also clean and care for the slicers, production line, floors, and all surrounding areas.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Must have great customer service
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Welcome customers who approach the Deli counter and offer your help
  • Works well with others and carries a smile on their face
  • Able to speak clearly when taking phone orders to avoid mistakes
  • Prepare sandwiches according to customers instructions
  • Read carefully and prepare sandwiches exactly how each ticket comes out
  • Use equipment such as ovens or microwaves for food preparation purposes
  • Ensure that equipment/utensils are clean and maintained at all times
  • Use cleaning procedures to ensure deli counter is clean at all times
  • Make sure the deli reach in is rotated/restocked with fresh food items
  • Prepare prepackaged deli items, pack them and label them appropriately
  • Cut, slice and weigh deli items such as meats and cheeses
  • Refill condiments such as salt, pepper, oregano and/or oil and vinegar
  • Prepare vegetables and meats for sandwiches and salads
  • Prepare soups according to predefined recipes
  • Keeping area clean and well kept
  • Clean and dry dishes properly
  • Must work with confidence and be able to multitask
  • Must have pleasant personality and cheerful disposition
  • Help with deep cleaning tasks throughout the Deli
  • Help with maintaining log of all reefer/freezer temperatures

Physical requirements:

Standing for long periods at a time, up to 8 hours a day.
