Position Summary:
The Production Supervisor oversees the manufacturing process within a designated department or area, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. They are responsible for leading and managing a team of production workers, coordinating workflow, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise during production. The Production Supervisor works closely with other departments to meet production targets, maintain inventory levels, and implement process improvements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and motivate a team of production workers, including assigning tasks, providing training, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Coordinate production schedules and workflow to meet production targets while ensuring quality standards are maintained.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with purchasing and logistics departments to ensure materials and supplies are available for production.
- Keep abreast and attend Redzone training programs. Review the run rates from time to time if there are changes in the processes to ensure that the numbers are accurate.
- Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen) projects.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains, implementing changes as needed to optimize production processes.
- Troubleshoot production issues as they arise, working with cross-functional teams to resolve problems and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate production records, including production reports, quality inspection records, and inventory logs.
- Foster open communication channels between production staff and other departments, ensuring alignment on goals and objectives.
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for production staff to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Do other tasks as assigned by immediate superior, Quality Assurance, and higher management from time to time.
- Perform hands-on tasks as needed on the line, including equipment adjustments, changeovers, and minor repairs.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues on processing and packaging lines.
- Lead, coach, and train line operators, floaters, and material handlers.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment (frozen, bakery, meat, dairy, beverage, or similar), with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing issues.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques, including Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.

Physical Requirements:
- The ability to move around the production facility, including walking, standing, and sometimes climbing stairs or ladders.
- Some production environments may require lifting and carrying heavy objects or materials. A production supervisor may need to assist in lifting or moving equipment if necessary.
- Production supervisors may work long hours and need the stamina to maintain focus and energy throughout the shift.
- Being physically capable of responding quickly in emergency situations and ensuring the safety of oneself and others in the production environment.
Work Environment:
The Production Supervisor typically works in a food manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to loud noises, machinery, and other occupational hazards. They may be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate production schedules and address any issues that arise outside of regular business hours. Travel may be required occasionally to attend meetings or visit other company locations.
