Senior R/Shiny Developer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior R/Shiny Developer in France.

This role offers the opportunity to join a globally distributed, data-focused engineering environment specializing in advanced R and Shiny applications. You will design and deliver high-performance data-driven solutions used by enterprise and scientific clients to transform complex datasets into actionable insights. Working closely with clients and internal experts, you will translate business and analytical challenges into robust technical applications. The position combines hands-on development, architectural decision-making, and client interaction in a fast-paced, high-trust remote culture. Accountabilities

You will be responsible for designing and delivering end-to-end R/Shiny solutions, ensuring high performance, scalability, and usability across client applications. You will work directly with stakeholders to understand complex requirements and translate them into effective technical implementations while maintaining high coding standards and architectural quality.

  • Design and build advanced web applications using R/Shiny and JavaScript, ensuring optimal performance and maintainability.
  • Select appropriate technologies and approaches to solve complex data and visualization problems.
  • Develop, test, and optimize code while ensuring reliability, scalability, and adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, engineers, and data specialists to define solutions and deliver features on time.
  • Troubleshoot Shiny reactivity issues and improve application performance and user experience.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement across engineering practices.
  • Participate in Agile delivery processes and ensure clear communication across distributed teams.
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in R/Shiny development, combined with solid software engineering practices and the ability to work effectively in client-facing and collaborative environments. You are comfortable solving complex data challenges and building scalable, production-grade applications.

  • Advanced proficiency in R, including deep understanding of Shiny internals, reactivity, and performance optimization.
  • Proven experience building web applications using R/Shiny and JavaScript.
  • Strong skills in data processing, analysis, and visualization for large or complex datasets.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and experience working with databases in production environments.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong knowledge of Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in distributed teams.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders.
