COMPANY/ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

Carlson Distributing is a multi-brand distributor, primarily of beverages, in the Salt Lake City area. Company functions include sales, delivery, merchandising, warehousing, and accounting functions related to the subject products.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Warehouse Maintenance Technician – Position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the warehouse building and equipment. Works with the Director of Operations to assist the Company in achieving established business objectives. Responsible for facilitating the timely and cost-effective repairs and preventative maintenance to include dock levelers, rolling door repairs, forklift repairs, pallet jacks, and high-speed wrapping machine; and providing for the safe and secure operation of all equipment. Also ensures the proper and accurate tracking and verification of preventative maintenance equipment. Position works from Company’s warehouse facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core accountabilities, duties, and responsibilities include the following;

  • Perform all repairs on forklifts, pallet jacks, dock levelers, rolling doors, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Performs department activities to achieve operational standards and communicate all issues to management.
  • Perform preventative maintenance programs on all machines and equipment to ensure service reliability.
  • Ensure all maintenance work performed both internally and externally is performed to company standards.
  • Schedules and communicates outsourced work only when approved by the Director of Operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies to complete work objectives and communicates needs to supervisor/management.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is in proper working order.
  • Complete required reports when maintenance tasks are complete.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Monitor and uphold the company’s safety standards.
  • Adhere to company standards, policies, and procedures including but not limited to;
    • Proper time clock submittal
    • Rotation and product quality
    • Meet or exceed productivity standards as set by management.
    • Complete assigned tracking forms and documents as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Solid work background includes a strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to job performance.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse setting preferred.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant experience
  • 2+ years of previous facility maintenance experience
  • 2-5 years equipment maintenance experience
  • Ability to accomplish tasks individually and through the leadership and direction of others.
  • Ability to effectively present information, both written and verbal, one on one or in a group setting and respond to questions from managers and peers.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedural documents.
  • Must be able to work between the hours of 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM or as the work schedule may require.
  • Able to pass a drug screen with a satisfactory result.
  • Must wear required safety gear.
  • Regular and predictable attendance

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Forklift Certification

No additional special licenses are required for this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the physical requirements needed.

  • Majority of workdays will entail sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and repairing company property.
  • Frequent use of hands to finger and handle products, work equipment, and documents.
  • Occasionally reaching with hands and arms for use with equipment
  • Must be able to lift/lower 35 lbs. occasionally and up to 165 lbs.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, ability to adjust and focus, distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), ability to identify and distinguish colors, peripheral vision, and ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.
  • Must be able to manage stressful situations which may be encountered in normal interactions with employees, managers, suppliers, and customers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental conditions encountered by this job include:

  • Exposure to dangers associated with commercial industries such as heavy equipment, wet spills, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and other related risks.
  • Exposure to outside weather conditions
  • Exposure to cold temperatures in coolers
  • Working with or near heavy equipment such as trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks
  • Working with hand tools such as screwdrivers, hammer, pliers, and cutting blades
  • Moderate noise such as light machinery and vehicles
