Job Description

Jefferson Community Health & Life is looking for a cafeteria aide to work 3 days per week (T/W/TH).

Hours: 11:00am - 3:00p,

3 shifts per week. Must be able to work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides courteous and efficient food and beverage service to employees, visitors, and guests in the cafeteria. Performs food service duties including serving, stocking, cashiering, cleaning, and maintaining the cafeteria and service areas in accordance with established food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards. Provides friendly customer service and assists with maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and/or Experience:
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), preferred
  • Previous food service, retail, cashiering, or customer service experience preferred
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire

    • ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Food Service & Cafeteria Operations
  • Provides food and beverage service to employees, visitors, and guests in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Serves food according to established portion and service guidelines.
  • Stocks and replenishes food items, beverages, condiments, utensils, and other cafeteria supplies as needed.
  • Maintains cafeteria, serving, and dining areas in a clean, organized, and attractive manner.
  • Assists with basic food preparation and food service activities as assigned.
  • Assists with opening and closing cafeteria duties as assigned.
  • Customer Service & Cash Handling
  • Provides courteous and responsive customer service to employees, visitors, and guests.
  • Assists customers and responds appropriately to questions and requests.
  • Communicates customer concerns, requests, or service issues to the Cook or department leadership as appropriate.
  • Performs cashiering duties using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Accurately processes cash and other forms of payment and follows established cash-handling procedures.
  • Food Safety & Sanitation
  • Follows established food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures.
  • Demonstrates safe food handling practices during food preparation, service, storage, and cleanup.
  • Covers, labels, dates, stores, and rotates food items according to established procedures.
  • Assists with monitoring and documenting food, salad bar, refrigerator/freezer, and equipment temperatures as assigned.
  • Practices appropriate hand hygiene, personal hygiene, and use of required personal protective equipment.
  • Prevents cross-contamination and follows established procedures related to food allergens and safe food handling.
  • Uses and stores cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer and department instructions.
  • Cleaning & Work Environment
  • Completes assigned cleaning and sanitation duties in cafeteria, dining, kitchen, storage, and service areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment, utensils, surfaces, and work areas after use and as assigned.
  • Assists with dishwashing and proper storage of clean dishes, utensils, and equipment as assigned.
  • Removes trash and waste and maintains appropriate waste receptacles in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Cleans spills promptly and maintains floors and work areas to reduce slip, trip, and fall hazards.
  • Operates equipment safely and reports equipment problems, unsafe conditions, or needed repairs to the Cook or supervisor.
  • Department Support
  • Assists with receiving, stocking, and properly storing food, supplies, and deliveries as directed.
  • Rotates food and supplies according to established procedures and assists with monitoring inventory as assigned.
  • Works cooperatively with Food Service staff and other departments to support efficient department operations.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in work assignments and assists in other areas of the department as needed.
  • Performs assigned duties independently while seeking assistance or direction when appropriate.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new employees as assigned.
  • Safety, Compliance & Performance Improvement
  • Follows applicable federal, state, and local food safety and sanitation requirements and established JCH&L Food Service policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to JCH&L policies and procedures, including Safety, Infection Prevention, Compliance, and Service Excellence standards.
  • Identifies and promptly reports safety concerns, accidents, incidents, food safety concerns, and equipment problems according to organizational procedures.
  • Participates in department meetings, required education, training, and performance improvement activities.
  • Maintains required certifications and training, including ServSafe Food Handler certification.
  • Reports workflow or process concerns and supports department improvement efforts.
  • Maintains a professional, cooperative, and respectful working relationship with coworkers, customers, and other departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational operations.
