Ancillary Service Aide

Position Summary
- Lifts and transports, and offers care during transportation of neonatal through geriatric patients to and from the Radiology Department; assists the Radiologic Technologists in performing tasks related to Radiology procedures and assists with clerical duties.
Position Responsibilities
- Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
  - Responsible for transporting patients to and from the Radiology Department.
  - Assists technologists with procedures as needed.
    • System Support, RIS: Locates patient demographics for physicians and patients, Create CDs, Order diagnostic procedure based on physician orders, Perform basic functions of RIS.
    • PACS: Locates patient images for physician and other hospital staff, trouble shoot system problems and report to administrator on call.
    • GENERAL RADIOLOGY/CT: Assist technologist in diagnostic exam room, Track Patients in RIS, Send images to PACS/VRAD for radiologist viewing, change exams in RIS to correct order.
  - Assist patients with dressing and/or undressing in preparation for an exam.
  - Place patient on exam table in the appropriate position for exam.
  - Prepare patient for injections by having all supplies ready before technologist arrives.
  - Assume all duties of the department receptionist
  - Assists with patient safety in department; applies appropriate radiation safety and protection.
  - May assist in gathering various patient information.
  - Assists with cleaning and stocking of rooms and/or equipment as needed.
  - Performs related work as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
  - Enrolled in a Radiologic Technologist program
  - Certified in BLS for Healthcare Providers
- Organizational Requirements:
  - Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.
  - Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
- Preferred Qualifications:
  - Graduation from high school or GED; non professional direct patient care experience preferred.
