Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Director of Medical Device Reimbursement to drive our reimbursement and ensure optimal market access for our medical device system(s). This individual will serve as the company's primary subject matter expert on coding, coverage, and payment policy working cross-functionally with Sales, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, and Finance to ensure that providers and patients can access Sanuwave technologies with minimal reimbursement barriers.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute reimbursement strategies for new and existing medical device product lines, including coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), coverage, and payment pathway planning.

  • Engage with current and prospective customers related to reimbursement.

  • Monitor and analyze proposed and final CMS rules (OPPS, MPFS, IPPS, ASC) and assess financial and strategic impact to the business.

  • Lead efforts to obtain, expand, or defend favorable coverage determinations and reimbursement rates.

  • Support new product launches with reimbursement pathway assessments and go-to-market recommendations.

  • Prepare and submit formal coverage requests, dossiers, and comment letters in response to proposed LCD/NCD changes.

  • Monitor MAC jurisdictional activity across all regions and proactively identify coverage risks and opportunities.

  • Develop reimbursement tools, training materials, and resources to support the field sales organization and customer-facing teams.

  • Partner with sales leadership to address site-of-care and billing challenges that affect product utilization and customer retention.

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex reimbursement questions from KOLs, hospital systems, and outpatient wound care centers.

  • Collaborate with Clinical and Medical Affairs to align clinical evidence generation with coverage and payment requirements.

  • Support health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) activities that strengthen payer value propositions.

  • Contribute to health technology assessment (HTA) submissions where applicable.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Policy, Public Health, Life Sciences, Business, related field or relevant equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in medical device or healthcare reimbursement, market access, or health policy

  • Deep, hands-on expertise with CMS coverage and payment processes including NCA/LCD, OPPS, MPFS, IPPS, NTAP, and TCET pathways

  • Direct experience working with MACs on LCD development and coverage determinations

  • Deep, hands-on expertise with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding systems and submission processes

  • Proven ability to translate complex regulatory and policy environments into actionable business strategy

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership and external government bodies
