Job Description

Description:

Lead Press Brake Setup Technician & Trainer - 1st Shift

Location: Wyoming, MI

Are you a master of press brake operations looking to step into a leadership role where you can guide a team, share your expertise, and drive shop-floor excellence?

We are looking for a hands-on Lead Press Brake Setup Technician/Trainer to anchor our department. You won't just run machines—you will set the standard for setups, mentor operators, and help lead our daily press brake operations. If you have deep, independent experience specifically with press brakes (and not just stamping, punch, or general hydraulic presses), we want to talk to you.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Master the Setup: Independently set up, adjust, and verify complex tooling for precision Amada press brake operations.
  • Program & Optimize (A Plus!): Write, edit, or adjust Amada CNC press brake programs (offline or at the control) to maximize efficiency and reduce scrap.
  • Lead & Train: Partner with supervision to help guide daily workflow, and train/mentor new and existing operators on setup procedures, machine operation, safety, and best practices.
  • Drive Production & Quality: Perform first-piece inspections, run production parts to tight tolerances from blueprints, and troubleshoot tooling or machine issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate & Improve: Work hand-in-hand with Engineering and Quality teams to refine manufacturing processes, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve setup efficiencies.
  • Standardize Success: Help develop and maintain clear setup documentation, tooling standards, and work instructions.

What You Need to Qualify (Requirements)

  • The Right Experience: Proven, hands-on experience independently setting up and operating press brakes. (Note: This is an advanced role. Experience limited to stamping presses, punch presses, or general hydraulic presses does not qualify).
  • Technical Mastery: Strong command of press brake tooling, forming techniques, springback management, and the ability to read and interpret complex blueprints.
  • Programming Skills (A Major Plus!): Proficiency in programming press brakes (either offline software or directly at the machine control) will set top candidates apart.
  • Leadership & Communication: A natural ability to lead by example, share knowledge, coach team members, and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Exceptional mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to resolve production challenges on the fly.
  • Physical Readiness: Ability to stand/walk for the shift, lift up to 50 lbs, and safely navigate a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

*Note: This job description is designed to outline the primary duties and qualifications of the role. It is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, tasks, or duties that may be required. Duties and responsibilities may evolve based on production demands and operational needs.
