Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.

Position Overview

Are you passionate about making a difference in early childhood education? Join us as an Early Years Consultant support families and child care providers seeking vital information and support. In this dynamic role, you'll be at the heart of our mission to enhance child care services and community resources, ensuring that every inquiry is met with expertise and care.

Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will respond to inquiries from families, the child care community, and the public on a wide range of child and family issues. You'll support our CCRR lending library, track reservations, and pick up and drop off resources, while also facilitating registration for workshops and training sessions. Your role includes staying updated on childcare services and community resources, providing referrals, and assisting in the planning of special events.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will have Early Childhood Care and Education training or a similar combination of education and experience, with a minimum of three years working with young children and their families. A current Level I First Aid Certificate is required, along with basic computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and Excel. The candidate should be responsible, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of service delivery, with deep knowledge of childcare issues and trends. They will show proven effectiveness in teamwork, excellent communication skills. Essential qualities include well-developed planning and organizational skills, a commitment to problem-solving, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. They should handle sensitive issues with confidentiality, respect cultural diversity, and possess a valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle. A willingness to learn is also required.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
