Founded in 1998, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) in Malden, Massachusetts, serves more than 1,750 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Students in Grades K–12 attend school in dress code for 200 instructional days each year and benefit from an extended school day that is approximately one hour longer than that of most traditional public schools. Position Summary

The K–6 Paraprofessional is an integral member of the instructional team, providing classroom support that promotes student achievement and a positive learning environment. Working under the direction of the classroom teacher, the paraprofessional assists with instruction, reinforces classroom expectations, and supports students academically and behaviorally throughout the school day.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, value structure and consistency, and are committed to helping students reach their full potential. No prior classroom experience is required.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering daily instruction and maintaining an organized, productive learning environment.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations using the school's assertive discipline model and positive behavior management strategies.
  • Model and uphold all school policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations.
  • Assist individual students and small groups during teacher-led instruction and independent practice.
  • Promote strong learning habits by ensuring students remain attentive, prepared, engaged, and on task.
  • Provide instructional support in reading, language arts, mathematics, reasoning, writing, and spelling, as assigned.
  • Monitor student progress and provide additional support to students who require reinforcement.
  • Assist with grading, recording student work, and maintaining classroom records as directed.
  • Help students review assignments, correct errors, and strengthen academic understanding.
  • Track incomplete assignments and assist students in completing required work.
  • Administer assessments, checkouts, and retests under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Supervise students during morning arrival, lunch, recess, dismissal, and other assigned duties.
  • Attend Back-to-School Night, professional development sessions, faculty meetings, and other required school events.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Leadership Team to support school operations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
  • No prior experience is required; experience working with children is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while following the direction of classroom teachers and administrators.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to analyze situations, solve problems, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to perform all responsibilities in accordance with school policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Successful completion of applicable Massachusetts MTEL requirements within one year of employment.
