Position Description: Test Technician I

Test?Technician at?LayerZero?Power Systems?LLC.?will be responsible for?implementing?appropriate test?methods,?utilizing?necessary test equipment, implementing test procedures and software, and providing a lead role in the testing of newly developed products and standard production testing. The Test Technician will?operate?on all types of test instruments and will have limited supervision.?LayerZero?Power Systems?LLC.?is?looking for an intelligent, detail-oriented, dependable worker with excellent documentation skills to join our team.??

Requirements:

Primary Duties:

  • Perform pre-power up inspection of electrical and electronic equipment to ensure readiness for testing.
  • Conduct functional testing (up to 600VAC), inspection, and basic testing of electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Perform burn-in and stress testing to verify equipment performance and reliability.
  • Assist with troubleshooting AC and DC power and control circuits up to 600V.
  • Help complete minor repairs on control, power, and fiber optic assemblies, including wiring, crimping, and routing.
  • Set up and assist with programming electronic devices using computer-based tools.
  • Complete test reports and documentation using computers and written forms.
  • Use hand tools, test equipment, and controls to complete assigned tasks.
  • Follow established testing procedures and work instructions.
  • Work independently on routine tasks and report complex issues.
  • Perform physical work including standing for long periods, bending, reaching, and kneeling.

Experience & Skills:

  • Hands-on experience operating electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters and current meters.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Proficiency in electrical assembly techniques and the use of standard hand tools.
  • Experience with electrical component assembly, wiring, and system integration preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electronics and circuit-level troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Experience with precision measurement tools and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and file management systems.
  • Basic programming or scripting knowledge for device configuration or test automation is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail in technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and proper PPE usage desired.

Education:

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, or Equivalent Military Electrical Training, or Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience performing electrical testing using voltage/current measurement equipment in the power systems industry.
