The Guest Engagement Lead will support the daily team goals and performance standards that help deliver an extraordinary garden operation and guest experience. They will have excellent customer service and hospitality skills, along with a strong attention to detail and will assist with preparing and leading a team of Guest Services Associates (GSA) during daily garden activity, as well as performing all duties of the GSAs.
- Preparing, organizing, and leading a team of Guest Service Associates (GSA) during daily indoor and outdoor garden activities, as well as during various events
- Preparing and leading a daily pre-shift for the team, including a daily list of assignments for the GSA team
- Ensuring that the GSAs are monitoring and preparing their assigned areas for guest readiness, providing wayfinding, and actively engaging with guests
- Communicating effectively to ensure smooth operations across all channels, including radio communication using a headset or earpiece
- Proactively engaging with guests and providing customer service and hospitality, including providing in the moment guest support and guest resolution
- Supporting operational duties including signage placement, transportation, and guest flow
- Participating in training sessions and team meeting
- Assisting in providing support for event operations that may include, but is not limited to, golf cart shuttle driving duties, coat check, contracted photoshoots, special events, educational programs, and special exhibits
This is a year-round, part-time role. The schedule varies (i.e. no fixed weeknight schedule) and requires evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a yearly average of 20 hours per week. Schedules are built according to business needs, which vary seasonally.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Previous horticulture experience is not required; however, a willingness to learn and an appreciation for Longwood Gardens are encouraged
- Experience leading a small team preferred but not required
- A valid driver's license (required)
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and presentation skills, along with effective problem-solving and organizational strengths
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service independently with professionalism
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
