QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Associates degree or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years metrology experience with technical skills

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Manage and lead a team of people to meet production needs of various areas within tooling and hardware environment. Manager will be responsible for scheduling workload within the pattern shop and work centers under the same department based on the work center, production needs, and number of people within the work center. Must be able to work within tolerances given and able to read blueprints and understand GD&T. Must have a high level of detail, both written and verbal, to communicate with supervisors and departments before and after assigned work is started and completed. Must be able to schedule work effectively to ensure product is continuously moving, deadlines are met, and employees are consistently prepared for the next steps throughout their day. Must be proficient with Microsoft programs, vitigage, snap calipers, micrometers, and blueprint reading. Manager is responsible for ensuring staffing meets production needs, timelines and materials are available. Will be responsible to keep attendance records and issue paid time off in accordance with the company policy and collective bargaining agreements. Will be responsible to ensure that all employees are trained adequately, and training materials are turned in timely and accurately. Ensure all employees receive timely performance reviews and records are turned in timely and accurately. Will ensure aid to support resources and planning for tomorrow and the next week. Ensure the production teams understand production goals and are assisting in the reduction of scrap by communicating effectively with all levels of management and engineering. Responsible to know the company policies and collective bargaining agreements and be able to administer conflict resolution in accordance with both, while following the disciplinary policy. Must maintain positive employee relations, communicate effectively, and ensure all safety policies are being followed. Must be familiar with all areas of production to ensure the flow and quality of all products comply with company and customer regulations. Will be responsible for the tracking of the tooling and storage of it.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Schedule and coordinate tooling and hardware modifications and creation is timely and efficient.
  • Ensure operations are being performed in conformance with all applicable inspection and safety standards.
  • Ensure that procedures for operation of the pattern shop are easily accessible and that personnel are aware of each one. Establish work instructions and submit revisions of instructions to Quality Control.
  • Work with engineering and quality on tooling changes and tooling enhancements.
  • Ensure that all internal and external documentation in the departments (e.g. AS9102 forms, production inspection reports) are completed correctly.
  • Ensure that employees are properly trained and evaluated in all aspects of the pattern shop.
  • Ensure all training is documented and maintained.
  • Coordinate the maintenance enhancements for any tooling changes.
  • Direct and coordinate quality assurance and control function to ensure optimum quality along with controlled cost.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, PolyWorks and SolidWorks.
  • Order the materials and tools to keep department on schedule.
  • Ensure that all paperwork and PWC documents are completed, and that Fixed Process is not violated without proper documentation.
  • Managing the tooling and organization of patterns in the warehouse at both locations and keeping pattern cards up to date and creating new job pattern cards.
  • Checking in new tooling and making sure everything is properly identified.
  • Tracking the inactive tooling and working with Sales, Quality and Engineering on where it needs to be kept.
  • Support all departments across the facility.
  • Quoting of repairs and new tooling, including RFQ for customers.
