This is a senior internal communications leadership opportunity focused on strengthening how a complex organization connects, informs, and engages its people.
You will shape enterprise communication strategy, governance, messaging frameworks, and operating rhythms that bring business priorities to life.
The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, from executive messaging and communication toolkits to enterprise-wide cascade plans.
You will partner closely with executives, business leaders, Talent, Transformation, IT, and other functions to support organizational change and alignment.
A key focus will be simplifying complex topics, reducing communication noise, and ensuring employees understand what matters, why it matters, and what action is expected.
You will also establish measurement and feedback mechanisms to improve communication effectiveness and strengthen leadership communication capabilities.
This role is ideal for an experienced communications leader who combines excellent judgment and storytelling with strong operational discipline and a service-oriented mindset.
- Define and evolve the enterprise internal communications strategy, operating model, governance, and communication standards in partnership with senior leadership.
- Build and maintain an enterprise communications calendar covering strategic priorities, organizational changes, key business moments, and recurring employee communications.
- Develop messaging frameworks, narratives, voice guidelines, templates, FAQs, talking points, and other tools that enable consistent and effective communication across teams.
- Translate complex business, organizational, and change-related topics into clear, concise, relevant communications that explain the context, purpose, expected impact, and required actions.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and decision rights for internal communications, balancing centralized standards with business and functional ownership.
- Partner with Talent, Transformation, IT, and business leaders to support change readiness and sustain communication throughout major transformation initiatives.
- Coach executives and organizational leaders on communication strategy, message development, timing, sequencing, audience considerations, and effective employee engagement.
- Establish listening and feedback mechanisms that incorporate employee and leadership perspectives into communication planning and execution.
- Measure communication effectiveness through reach, engagement, clarity, channel performance, and other relevant indicators, using insights to continuously improve the function.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, consolidate, or retire redundant communication channels, messages, and processes that create unnecessary complexity or noise.
- Coordinate with business and functional stakeholders to ensure communications are appropriately scoped, timely, delivered through the right channels, and owned by the appropriate messengers.
- Explore emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve communication efficiency, consistency, scalability, and personalization while preserving authenticity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, English, Business Administration, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
- 12–15+ years of progressive experience in internal communications, corporate communications, employee communications, change communications, or a related field, ideally within professional services, healthcare, consulting, or another complex matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated experience building, transforming, or scaling an internal communications function, operating model, or enterprise communications program.
- Strong strategic judgment and the ability to connect communications initiatives with organizational priorities, culture, business objectives, and change programs.
- Exceptional writing and editing capabilities, including experience developing executive communications, leader messages, communication toolkits, and high-clarity content for diverse audiences.
- Strong facilitation, advisory, and coaching skills, with the ability to influence executives and stakeholders across organizational levels.
- Experience establishing communication governance, message architecture, channel standards, and leadership cascade processes.
- Ability to simplify complex information and turn it into clear, concise, actionable communications.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional initiatives, navigate competing priorities, and drive alignment without relying solely on formal authority.
- Experience using communication metrics, employee feedback, and engagement insights to evaluate effectiveness and refine communication strategies.
- Excellent collaboration, organization, and project management skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- High emotional intelligence, curiosity, humility, and a strong service mindset, with a genuine focus on improving how employees experience the organization.
- Familiarity with emerging communication technologies and AI tools, with the ability to apply them responsibly to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Salary range of $160,000–$213,000, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
