Financial Data Migration Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Financial Data Migration Developer based in India.

This role focuses on supporting complex financial data migration initiatives by ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and successful transformation across business systems. The position combines technical expertise in SQL and data management with a strong understanding of financial processes and enterprise applications. You will work closely with Finance, IT, Business Analysts, and application teams to design, validate, and deliver reliable migration solutions. Accountabilities:

The Financial Data Migration Developer will design, develop, and support data migration solutions that ensure accurate movement of financial information between legacy and target systems. The role requires strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders throughout the migration lifecycle.

  • Develop and maintain data migration solutions supporting data cleansing, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and migration activities.
  • Analyze and profile complex financial datasets, including sales orders, customer records, general ledger balances, accounts payable/receivable data, deferred revenue, and trial balances.
  • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex T-SQL queries to extract, transform, validate, and reconcile large volumes of financial data.
  • Design data mappings between legacy and target financial systems, including chart of accounts, cost centres, and financial dimensions.
  • Document transformation rules, mapping logic, assumptions, and identified data quality issues.
  • Perform reconciliation activities to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of migrated financial information.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies, anomalies, and quality issues in collaboration with Finance teams.
  • Support testing activities, including unit testing, system integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Participate in mock migrations, migration rehearsals, cutover activities, and post-migration validation.
  • Translate technical concepts into clear business language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with distributed teams across different locations and time zones to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SQL development, data migration, and financial data environments. This role requires a combination of technical capability, business understanding, and excellent communication skills to successfully manage complex migration activities.

  • 5+ years of experience as a SQL Developer, Data Analyst, Data Migration Specialist, or similar role.
  • Strong experience writing and optimizing complex T-SQL queries in data migration or transformation environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL concepts, including:
    • Joins
    • Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
    • Window functions
    • Aggregations
    • Query performance optimization
  • Experience extracting, cleansing, transforming, and validating large datasets.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools such as SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or Azure Data Factory is desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and financial data reconciliation techniques.
  • Experience supporting finance-related data migrations, ERP implementations, or business transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, including General Ledger, Chart of Accounts, Trial Balance, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and financial reporting structures.
  • Knowledge of journal entries, reconciliation processes, and financial reporting cycles.
  • Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle Financials, Workday Financials, or similar systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and deliver high-quality results within deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Certifications in SQL, data analytics, accounting, or finance are considered a plus.
