JOB SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, installer/subcontractor payments, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close, while helping ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The ideal candidate is comfortable with high-volume transactional work as a core, ongoing part of the job today, while also contributing to broader accounting functions across the department. As the team implements a new Salesforce platform, this role has the opportunity to grow in scope and take on more senior-level responsibilities over time.

Requirements:

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Process and log accounts payable transactions and subcontractor payments
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, vendor accounts, and general ledger entries
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries
  • Prepare and maintain financial reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation
  • Monitor and resolve discrepancies in invoices, payments, and account balances
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation
  • Support billing processes and collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial transactions
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and enhance the customer experience
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Take on increasing responsibility across the accounting function as skills develop

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-4 years of accounting experience
  • 1-2 years of public accounting experience OR 3-4 years of private industry accounting experience would be preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Solid understanding of debit/credit principles and general ledger fundamentals
  • Experience with accounts payable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger work
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Billing experience and construction industry knowledge a plus
  • Salesforce experience preferred
  • Self-starter with strong drive and a genuine desire to grow
