Sales Development Representative

Position Summary

The Sales Development Representative (SDR) is responsible for generating new sales opportunities for HatchMed's Bed Connectivity solutions through proactive outbound prospecting. This role focuses exclusively on identifying target hospitals, engaging key decision-makers through multi-channel marketing and outreach. The outbound activities include email campaigns, LinkedIn outreach, as well as direct phone engagement. The ultimate goal is to qualify new opportunities and schedule introductory meetings or demonstrations for the appropriate Field Account Executive.

As HatchMed continues to grow, the SDR will play a critical role in expanding our pipeline by introducing innovative healthcare technology solutions to hospitals and health systems across North America.

Key Responsibilities

1. Outbound Prospecting

  • Execute high-volume outbound prospecting through email marketing campaigns, direct phone prospecting, LinkedIn outreach, and other digital channels.
  • Build relationships with hospital executives and department leaders including Clinical Engineering, IT, Nursing, Facilities, Biomedical Engineering, Patient Experience, and Executive Leadership.
  • Conduct strategic initial outreach into assigned territories using personalized messaging and account-based prospecting techniques.
  • Reactivate dormant accounts and previously engaged prospects.
  • Consistently meet daily and weekly activity goals.

2. Account Research & Targeting

  • Research hospitals and health systems that fit HatchMed's ideal customer profile.
  • Identify buying signals including:
    • Hospital renovations and new construction
    • Technology modernization initiatives
    • Nurse call replacements
    • Epic or EMR implementations
    • Leadership changes
    • Patient safety initiatives
    • Digital transformation projects
  • Identify and map key decision-makers and influencers within target accounts.

3. Lead Qualification & Meeting Generation

  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand organizational needs, current workflows, project timelines, and purchasing priorities.
  • Qualify opportunities using HatchMed's sales qualification criteria.
  • Schedule introductory meetings and product demonstrations for the appropriate territory representative.
  • Transition qualified opportunities to the assigned Account Executive while maintaining clear CRM documentation.

4. CRM & Sales Operations

  • Maintain accurate CRM records including activities, contacts, notes, buying signals, and opportunity status.
  • Build and maintain prospect lists using CRM and sales intelligence tools.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on all assigned leads.

5. Marketing & Sales Collaboration

  • Respond quickly to inbound marketing leads generated through campaigns, webinars, events, and content downloads.
  • Partner with Marketing to improve messaging and campaign effectiveness based on prospect feedback.
  • Share competitive intelligence, customer objections, and market insights with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in outbound business development, sales development, or inside sales.
  • Experience prospecting into hospitals, healthcare systems, or healthcare technology organizations.
  • Proven success generating meetings through phone solicitation and email outreach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple prospecting campaigns simultaneously.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Microsoft Copilot to improve research, messaging, and productivity.
  • Experience with CRM and sales engagement platforms including Zoho CRM, Definitive Healthcare, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with healthcare buying processes and hospital organizational structures.

Success Metrics

The SDR's performance will be measured by:

  • Qualified Sales Accepted Leads created
  • Introductory meetings scheduled
  • Sales pipeline generated
  • Outbound activity (calls, emails, LinkedIn touches)
  • Marketing Lead response time
  • CRM data quality
  • Conversion rate from Marketing Qualified Lead to Sales Accepted Lead

Compensation

  • On-Target Earnings (OTE): $110,000 annually, including base salary and performance-based incentive compensation.
