Job Description

Traveling Live Action / Sports Stills Photographer (Seasonal)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Traveling Live Action / Sports Stills Photographer (Seasonal) based in the United States.

This seasonal opportunity is ideal for an experienced action photographer who enjoys travel, live events, and capturing unforgettable moments as they happen.
You’ll travel across the United States to photograph major dance competitions and high-energy performances in constantly changing stage conditions.
The role is focused entirely on capturing sharp, well-timed images, with no post-event editing required.
You’ll work alongside experienced photographers and videographers while receiving comprehensive hands-on training before working independently.
The position combines creative skill with demanding production schedules, frequent travel, and long event days.
It offers guaranteed minimum pay, paid travel, covered expenses, and an equipment stipend for qualified photographers.

Accountabilities:
  • Travel throughout the United States to photograph dance competitions and live performances during the February–June season.
  • Capture sharp, well-timed action photographs of dancers and performers under rapidly changing stage lighting and challenging low-light conditions.
  • Operate professional camera equipment in manual mode while using continuous autofocus to consistently capture fast-moving subjects.
  • Work collaboratively with event videographers and other members of the production team to support smooth event coverage.
  • Back up, transfer, and upload image files according to established procedures after each competition.
  • Maintain professional standards and productivity during long production days, which may require working approximately 12–16 hours.
  • Travel by air and/or drive to event locations as required, including driving several hours when necessary.
  • Participate in virtual training and at least two live training events alongside experienced senior photographers before independently covering events.
  • Provide a live-action photography portfolio demonstrating relevant experience with sports, dance, theatre, concerts, gymnastics, figure skating, cheerleading, low-light events, or other fast-paced environments.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated professional photography experience capturing fast-moving subjects, particularly in sports, dance, theatre, concerts, gymnastics, figure skating, cheerleading, or high-volume/low-light events.
  • Experience with manual shooting and continuous autofocus (Servo/AF-C) in changing lighting conditions.
  • Portrait, studio, real estate, landscape, product, or architectural photography alone does not meet the experience requirements.
  • Ability to provide two professional mirrorless camera bodies from Canon, Nikon, or Sony.
  • Required lenses include a compatible 24-105mm, 24-120mm, 24-70mm, or 35-150mm zoom, plus a 70-200mm lens; f/2.8 is preferred, while f/4 is accepted.
  • Own at least four memory cards of 64GB or larger, a compatible card reader, a minimum of three batteries, two chargers, and a monopod.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Live within approximately one hour of a major airport and hold a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Have a passport or REAL ID-compliant driver's license suitable for domestic air travel.
  • Be available for Thursday-through-Monday travel throughout the February–June season.
  • Be comfortable driving approximately 5–6 hours when required and working extended event production days.
  • Ability to lift approximately 25 lbs and successfully complete a criminal background check.
  • Strong teamwork, reliability, attention to detail, and adaptability in fast-changing live-event environments.
Benefits:
  • Starting compensation of $25/hour.
  • Guaranteed minimum daily pay and guaranteed minimum event pay.
  • Paid travel days.
  • Flights, hotels, rental cars, and approved travel expenses covered.
  • Private hotel room during travel.
  • Meals or per diem provided.
  • Equipment stipend of up to $700.
  • Paid virtual training before the season.
  • Minimum of two paid live training events alongside experienced senior photographers.
  • No photo editing required—the focus is on capturing high-quality images while post-production is handled separately.
  • Opportunity to travel throughout the United States and photograph major dance competitions and live performances.
  • Seasonal opportunity running approximately February through June.
