DEPARTMENT: Mercer County Correction Center –Records
SALARY: $44,321 – $59,453
LOCATION: Lambertville, NJ
SCHEDULE: During the training period, theschedule is 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Following the training period, employeesmay be assigned to an alternate shift based on operational needs. Off-hoursshift schedule is to be determined.

POSITIONOVERVIEW:
The MercerCounty Correction Center is seeking detail-oriented and organized RecordsSupport Technician 1 candidates to join the Records Division. This positionperforms a variety of clerical and records management duties in support of thefacility's operations, ensuring the accurate processing, maintenance, security,and retrieval of confidential inmate, legal, and administrative records.
Working ina secure correctional environment, the Records Support Technician plays animportant role in maintaining the integrity of facility records while providingadministrative support to correctional staff, law enforcement agencies, thecourts, and other authorized entities. The ideal candidate is organized,dependable, and committed to maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in afast-paced office environment.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to:
- Receive, review, sort, process, and file records, documents, forms, and correspondence in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain confidential inmate, legal, administrative, and correctional records using established filing and records management systems.
- Retrieve records and documentation upon authorized request while ensuring compliance with applicable confidentiality requirements.
- Scan, index, organize, and electronically maintain records utilizing computerized document management and records systems.
- Assign identification numbers, codes, and other indexing information to facilitate accurate recordkeeping.
- Prepare records for scanning, archiving, storage, or other records retention processes.
- Enter, retrieve, verify, and update information within computerized records management systems.
- Respond to routine telephone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries while directing more complex matters to appropriate personnel.
- Perform general clerical duties, including copying, scanning, sorting mail, preparing correspondence, and maintaining office files.
- Operate office equipment including scanners, copiers, printers, fax machines, and other office technology.
- Maintain logs, reports, and other documentation related to records processing activities.
- Assist law enforcement personnel and authorized agencies with records requests in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive correctional, legal, and personnel information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE:
Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previousclerical, records management, administrative support, or office experience ispreferred but not required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a valid New Jersey driver's license may be required depending on operational needs.
- Ability to successfully work within a secure correctional environment and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of general office procedures, records management practices, and filing systems.
- Knowledge of alphabetical, numerical, and alphanumeric filing methods.
- Ability to accurately process, organize, retrieve, and maintain confidential records.
- Ability to operate computers, scanners, copiers, and other office equipment.
- Ability to utilize electronic records management systems and other computerized information systems.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with correctional staff, law enforcement agencies, court personnel, County employees, and the public.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment and professionalism.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer applications is preferred.
