Job Description

Senior Technical Implementation Architect, Interoperability

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Technical Implementation Architect, Interoperability based in the United States.

This is a senior, hands-on technical role focused on delivering complex healthcare interoperability implementations for strategic customers.
You will serve as the primary technical owner, guiding integration planning from discovery through successful delivery.
The role combines enterprise architecture, healthcare data standards, APIs, identity, authentication, and customer data exchange.
You will work directly with customer technical leaders, implementation partners, vendors, and internal Product, Engineering, Security, and Data teams.
A key part of the role is translating complex requirements into practical, scalable implementation strategies while managing technical risks and dependencies.
You will also help develop reusable integration patterns, documentation, automation, and technical tooling that improve future implementations.
This is an opportunity to shape how technology enables better coordination across healthcare and social service ecosystems.

Accountabilities
  • Serve as the primary technical owner for strategic customer implementations, leading interoperability planning and technical execution from initial discovery through delivery and launch.
  • Evaluate technical feasibility, architectural tradeoffs, system boundaries, dependencies, and integration responsibilities to recommend practical implementation approaches.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions, interoperability workshops, and implementation planning with customer technical teams, partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Design and guide integrations involving REST APIs, FHIR, healthcare data exchange, identity, authentication, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Analyze technical artifacts such as API specifications, FHIR Implementation Guides, JSON payloads, application logs, authentication workflows, customer data structures, and integration workflows to troubleshoot issues and guide technical decisions.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into clear implementation strategies, identifying risks, dependencies, integration patterns, and the internal expertise required for successful delivery.
  • Coordinate cross-functional technical stakeholders and determine when Product, Engineering, Security, Data, or other teams need to be engaged.
  • Navigate complex customer technology ecosystems and drive alignment between customer objectives, platform capabilities, technical constraints, interoperability standards, and delivery timelines.
  • Develop and maintain implementation documentation, technical recommendations, interoperability guidance, customer-facing materials, and reusable reference resources.
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery through automation, reusable technical patterns, lightweight utilities, AI-assisted workflows, and improved integration standards.
  • Share customer implementation feedback and technical recommendations with Product and Engineering to strengthen interoperability capabilities and future customer outcomes.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience leading customer-facing technical implementations, enterprise integrations, interoperability initiatives, or technical solution delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a primary technical owner for enterprise interoperability implementations and independently evaluating technical approaches and tradeoffs.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability and enterprise integration technologies, including REST APIs, HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, US Core, FHIR Implementation Guides, HL7v2, identity and authentication protocols, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Ability to interpret API specifications, engineering documentation, FHIR resources, authentication workflows, application logs, JSON payloads, customer data structures, and technical architecture artifacts.
  • Strong systems-thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to reduce technical ambiguity and guide customers toward practical solutions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with customer technical leaders, implementation partners, vendors, and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and technical documentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, scripting, APIs, automation, or technical tooling is preferred.
  • Demonstrated curiosity about using automation, reusable tooling, and AI-assisted workflows to improve technical delivery is highly valued.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Relevant interoperability, API, cloud, identity, or integration certifications are a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, U.S.-based environment and travel approximately 10–20% as required.
  • Successful completion of a background check, including criminal, employment, and education verification, is required.
Benefits
  • Target salary range of $140,000–$155,000, depending on skills, experience, competencies, and location.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible employees and dependents.
  • Unlimited virtual mental health and acute medical visits.
  • Employee Assistance Program and wellness platform resources.
  • Flexible time off, including volunteer days and mental health days.
  • 14 paid company-wide holidays.
  • Paid parental leave, including support for adoptive parents.
  • Employee Resource Groups supporting connection, inclusion, and community.
  • Health Savings Accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts, and commuter benefits.
  • 401(k) plan with employer matching, immediate vesting, and financial wellness resources.
  • Company-paid life and AD&D insurance, with additional coverage available.
  • Disability, accident, and pet insurance options.
  • Necessary work-from-home equipment, including a computer, mouse, keyboard, and other approved supplies.
  • Remote U.S.-based work environment with opportunities to contribute to mission-driven healthcare and social service technology initiatives.
