Overview

The mission of Princeton University Department of Athletics is to strive for excellence in academics and athletics, while embracing equity in opportunity, good sportsmanship, and ethical conduct. In keeping with this mission, the role of the General Manager, Football Strategy & Alumni Relations is to support a quality varsity program that will challenge and develop the physical, mental and personal abilities of student-athletes of a Division I program.



Responsibilities

  • Oversee and provide strategic direction for two Coordinators of Operations, ensuring alignment, workload balance, and operational excellence.
  • Serve as a primary administrative liaison to Athletics departmental leadership and University partners.
  • Support Head Football Coach in long range planning, program infrastructure, and special initiatives.
  • Maintain program-wide calendar integrations, deadlines, and operational workflows.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to Princeton Football alumni, overseeing strategy and execution of alumni engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate major alumni events including the Armstrong Dinner, Football Alumni Golf Outing, Reunions Alumni Event, pre-game alumni tailgates.
  • Work with Athletics Fundraising and Advancement to strengthen alumni relationships, communications, and stewardship.
  • Support alumni participation in student athlete career development, networking, and internship pathways.
  • Serve as the Director of Football Summer Camps, managing all components of program-run camps for prospective student athletes.
  • Oversee scheduling, registration systems, compliance documentation, staffing, budgeting, field setup, and communication.
  • Oversee prospect-related special events in collaboration with External Operations staff.
  • Lead planning, logistics, and execution of major football program events throughout the year.
  • Support branding, communications, and special presentations as needed by the Head Coach.
  • Coordinate cross departmental partnerships for game day activations, recruiting events, and community engagement functions.
  • Serve as the football program’s primary liaison to the team’s academic fellows/athletic fellows, collaborating on academic support, scheduling, wellness communication, and student athlete development initiatives.
  • Integrate fellow feedback into program planning, time management strategies, and academic athletic balance protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years work experience in intercollegiate athletics, specifically with a varsity football program.
  • Proficient with MS office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of the fundamental role that intercollegiate athletics, properly implemented, can play in the educational development of our student-athletes.
  • Able to work within the framework of the Department of Athletics administration and coaches.
  • Demonstrated people skills that include the ability to coach and develop talent, build collaborative relationships, and resolve conflict to maintain a positive and productive team environment.
  • Skills in strategic planning, sound decision making, and problem solving in order to advance the football program.
  • Experience managing projects, budgets, and resources to ensure highquality outcomes.
  • Adherence to Ivy League and NCAA rules and regulations.
