About Department 475

Department 475 is responsible for managing the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Network (NNPP Net) at Electric Boat. The EB LAN portion of the NNPP Net consists of Electric Boat users across the country including the east coast and pacific northwest. The network is expanding to support many changes including new construction, maintenance and modernization contracts, and to meet changing security requirements.

Job Description:

Department 475 is seeking an experienced Information Technology (IT) Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of multiple technology projects. This role provides structure and organization to project activities, strengthens communication across teams, and identifies opportunities to enhance systems and streamline processes.

The ideal candidate is a technically skilled and a highly selfmotivated professional who requires minimal supervision. They will be a proactive leader who takes full ownership and accountability for project outcomes, and who can independently manage initiatives from conception through successful completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution
• Develop comprehensive project plans including critical paths, task dependencies, and key milestones.
• Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress to ensure delivery within scope, and schedule.
• Measure and track project performance at defined checkpoints to ensure quality standards are met.
• Keep all projects on track and escalate decisions or issues as necessary.

Risk, Issue, and Dependency Management
• Identify, prioritize, mitigate, and manage project issues, constraints, dependencies, and risks.
• Ensure risk management strategies are followed and reviewed in accordance with organizational guidelines.

Communication & Reporting
• Organize and lead meetings, ensuring clear communication across crossfunctional teams.
• Prepare and deliver regular project status updates and reports to management and stakeholders.
• Facilitate collaboration and information sharing across departments and vendors.

Team Leadership & Support
• Lead and direct the work of project team members and contractors to ensure successful delivery of project objectives.
• Provide guidance and support to team members in executing tasks and meeting project deliverables.

• Build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with team members, vendors, and key project stakeholders

• Advocate for project goals and ensure alignment across teams and partners.

Technical & Process Awareness
• Apply a solid understanding of IT concepts, practices, and procedures throughout project planning and execution.
• Seek opportunities to streamline processes and improve systems to enhance project efficiency and outcomes.

Position is 100% on-site. No remote option.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • 8+ years of IT project management experience including project schedule development, change management and status reporting
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Preferred

  • PMI PMP certification
  • Experience using Atlassian Confluence and Jira
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills including Project, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio
  • Active Secret Clearance
