About the role

This position is best suited for an able and dedicated speech therapist to treat children with a variety of speech, language, and cognitive disorder problems and improve the function and independence of infants, children, and adolescents facing various health conditions. Your main responsibility as a pediatric speech therapist will be to support and care for children and their families who have difficulties with communication, eating, drinking and swallowing.

What you'll do

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations on children, adolescents, and/or adults. Analyze, interpret, and document evaluation results.
  • Develop patient care plan with short and long-term goals.
  • Maintain all records in compliance with regulations, reimbursement requirements, and job responsibilities
  • Plan and provide individual and /or group therapy according to individual needs and goals.
  • Perform routine documentation of client performance, adjusting goals and treatment as needed and determine discharge care plans as appropriate.
  • Provide family education and training to assist in carryover of skills into a client’s daily living environment.
  • Communicate with other professionals such as physicians, psychologists, social workers, behavior therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and recreation therapists with signed release of information.
  • Team with parents and /or other team members in a therapy session, as appropriate.
  • Make appropriate referrals for additional services such as psychiatry, psychology, dentistry, audiology, behavior therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and educational therapy.
  • Supervise aids/volunteers, other Speech-Language Pathologists and/or Speech Language Pathologists Assistants as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal policies, California state board for Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology & Hearing Aid Dispensers, and ASHA.
  • Participate in in-services and /or parent education training programs, as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • A master's degree in speech-language pathology/communicative disorders or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid California license as a Speech-Language Pathologist issued from the California Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology & Hearing Aid Dispensers Board.
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current driver’s license and auto insurance
  • At least 2 years' experience as a pediatric speech therapist within the last 5 years preferred, but a strong candidate with less experience will be considered. Pediatric experience required.
  • Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices and speech therapy programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to take care of clients with different personalities.
  • Ability to show compassion and empathy toward each family’s individual circumstances
  • Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
  • Ability to assess patient conditions and work with treatment plans
