Standard Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
This position is part of our standard 50-hour workweek schedule. Additional overtime and occasional Saturdays may be required based on project needs, weather conditions, and customer schedules.
Candidates must be willing to be flexible as project demands and schedules may change.
Position Summary:
The Laborer / Topman supports the Underground Utility crew by assisting with trench preparation, material handling, excavation support, and jobsite safety during the installation of storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and waterline systems.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist the underground utility crew with installation of storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and waterline systems.
- Prepare trenches and work areas for pipe installation.
- Load, unload, organize, and transport materials, tools, and equipment.
- Assist with trench boxes, shoring systems, and excavation safety.
- Hand dig around existing utilities as required.
- Clean, prepare, and stage pipe, fittings, and related materials.
- Assist with placing bedding material and backfilling trenches.
- Communicate safely with equipment operators using hand signals and verbal direction.
- Perform daily inspections of tools and equipment and report safety concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and trench safety requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Site Foreman.
Qualifications:
Required: Knowledge of safe trenching procedures, utility installation experience, ability to read grades and benchmarks, and a strong commitment to safety.
Preferred: OSHA certification and equipment operating experience.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Must be able to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Must be able to safely work around heavy equipment, excavation activities, and active construction sites.

Compensation: $25 per hour
Compensation includes the opportunity for consistent overtime through our standard 50-hour work schedule.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
