The Role
Liberty Science Center is seeking a Coordinator, Digital Media with a strong background in photo and video creation to act as the Science Center’s onsite reporter, supporting the marketing and communications strategy through website, social media, and public relations initiatives. The Coordinator will be a key player on the content creation team, working on social media coordination, writing, digital analytics/reports, and developing and producing digital content for our daytime and evening initiatives.
The Coordinator, Digital Media will report to the Sr. Director, Communications, and is expected to be engaged in the life of the organization.

You have a strong understanding of how to distribute content across multiple platforms, with an emphasis on the social media space. You thrive on researching and exploring new technologies, internet trends, and pop culture phenomena, and enjoy sharing your results with others. Lastly, you are able to enthusiastically share samples of your work with us!
What You’ll Do
Act as an advocate for the LSC.org website by maintaining timelines and anticipating necessary changes to ensure current and accurate information is always available
Maintain current knowledge of LSC’s programs, publicity, and events, experiencing them firsthand to capture guest reaction and content
Work with LSC staff and external partners to promote events and new exhibitions, especially through the use of photo and video
Liaise with department heads to identify creative ways of presenting and optimizing online content utilizing multi-media assets
Create new templates, forms, landing pages, and other site content
Contribute to PR efforts by maintaining online press photo gallery and releases, press clips, and participating in online influencer outreach
Participate in scheduling social media content posts via HootSuite and respond to social media inquiries as needed
Report website traffic, social media engagement, and email blast analytics, and make recommendations for optimization based on these data sources
Work with cross-divisional teams to update purchase path information, ensuring clear messaging on our ticketing platform, Tessitura
Participate in ongoing efforts to streamline LSC’s image library, including photo retouching and sizing, photo acquisition, and video editing
Support the Marketing and Communications team as needed on departmental projects
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs)
The ideal candidate possesses a combination of the following KSAs:
- Knowledge of photo and video production
- Knowledge of current social media trends and systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google products
- Knowledge of Adobe CC suite a plus
- Knowledge of TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts video production a plus
- Experience with drone photography a plus
- Strong writing and content development skills
- Ability to work independently to accomplish short-term tasks and long-term goals
- Ability to act as a liaison between groups with varied interests while honoring organizational mission, goals, and objectives
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with a major in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, photography, video production, or related field
2+ years of relevant work experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
Classification and Schedule
This is a regular full-time exempt position that will work onsite at LSC. This role is eligible for full benefits, subject to LSC’s benefits waiting period as of the date of hire. The ideal candidate must be available to work a flexible weekly schedule as a lead content creator covering LSC events. This may include working weekends, evenings, early mornings, and holidays as business needs or special events require.
Physical/Environmental Demands
The Coordinator will operate standard office equipment, such as a computer and phone, as well as a variety of photography equipment, like cameras and studio lights. A significant portion of this person’s work may take place at a desk, however this position may require the ability to stand for long periods of time while covering events, as well as moving through exhibits that might require climbing, crawling, or kneeling. Maneuvering quickly through crowds and working in a high-noise environment to gather photo and video assets will be necessary at times. The Coordinator will also occasionally set up photo backdrops and help prepare spaces for photo shoots.

Liberty Science Center is located in a beautiful state park in Jersey City, New Jersey, with easy access to free parking, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, and the NJ Path train. LSC is a pleasant 15-minute commute from lower Manhattan.
Travel
Local travel may be required for off-site marketing and/or educational events (less than 15%).
Compensation & Benefits
The budgeted compensation for this position is $50,000-$55,000. The final salary is commensurate with abilities, education, certifications, and experience. In addition to compensation for salary, you will receive compensation in the form of generous benefits, including, but not limited to:
