Sr. Network and Security Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Network and Security Engineer based in Brazil.

This role offers the opportunity to design, secure, and optimize complex enterprise network environments across multiple client infrastructures.
You will play a key role in delivering reliable networking solutions while managing advanced security, routing, and connectivity challenges.
The position combines technical expertise, hands-on troubleshooting, infrastructure projects, and client-facing collaboration.
You will work with leading networking technologies including Cisco, Fortinet, SD-WAN, firewalls, and data center solutions.

Accountabilities:

The Sr. Network and Security Engineer will design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise networking and security environments across multiple client infrastructures. This role requires advanced technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to manage complex escalations while maintaining high service standards.

  • Design, implement, support, and maintain enterprise network infrastructures across multiple client environments.
  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD), and Fortinet FortiGate firewall solutions.
  • Deploy and support Cisco Meraki SD-WAN solutions across distributed enterprise networks.
  • Configure and troubleshoot advanced routing technologies, including BGP, MPLS, and related protocols.
  • Manage MPLS VRF environments to support secure network segmentation and connectivity.
  • Configure and support Cisco Nexus switching environments, including Virtual Port Channel (vPC) technologies.
  • Monitor network performance, identify capacity constraints, and proactively address security or reliability issues.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, firewall, and routing environments.
  • Participate in infrastructure migrations, upgrades, client onboarding projects, and technology improvements.
  • Handle escalated incidents while meeting service-level agreements and operational requirements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, security teams, and client IT stakeholders to deliver infrastructure improvements.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations when required.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced network and security engineer with strong expertise in enterprise infrastructure, managed services, and advanced networking technologies. They should be comfortable supporting multiple environments, troubleshooting complex issues, and working independently in a remote setting.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer within an MSP or enterprise environment.
  • Proven experience supporting multiple customer environments simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, and network security principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD), and Fortinet FortiGate firewalls.
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki SD-WAN deployments and distributed network environments.
  • Strong expertise in Cisco Nexus switching, Nexus vPC technologies, BGP, MPLS, and MPLS VRF.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking.
  • Experience configuring and supporting VPN technologies, including site-to-site and remote access VPNs.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring, performance analysis, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and incident management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced MSP environment.
  • Willingness to work a permanent night shift schedule.
  • Experience with enterprise data center networking, cloud networking (Azure/AWS), multi-site WAN environments, or network automation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation tools such as Python, PowerShell, or Ansible is beneficial.
  • Experience with Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA Center, Cisco ACI, ITIL processes, or change management practices is an advantage.
