US Tax Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a US Tax Analyst based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to support U.S. tax compliance and accounting activities within a dynamic international organization.
You will play a key part in ensuring accurate tax reporting, compliance processes, and financial analysis for U.S. operations.
Working closely with tax leadership and internal business teams, you will provide expertise and support on a wide range of tax matters.
The position is ideal for a detail-oriented tax professional who enjoys solving complex problems and continuously improving processes.
You will contribute to important tax initiatives while gaining exposure to corporate tax compliance, reporting, and strategic projects.

Accountabilities:

The US Tax Analyst will support tax compliance, tax accounting, and analytical activities related to U.S. operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing U.S. federal and state corporate income tax returns, including supporting documentation and working papers.
  • Preparing U.S. federal and state tax extensions, installment calculations, and coordinating payments to tax authorities.
  • Completing U.S. tax compliance filings for foreign entities, including Forms 5471, 5472, and 1120F.
  • Supporting calculations related to GILTI, FDII, earnings and profits, and other U.S. tax attributes.
  • Preparing quarterly and annual U.S. income tax provisions under IFRS, including account reconciliations.
  • Responding to inquiries and correspondence from U.S. tax authorities and assisting with tax notices.
  • Supporting internal teams and business functions with tax-related requests and guidance.
  • Conducting tax research, analysis, and special projects related to U.S. operations.
  • Assisting with purchase price allocations and preparation of Forms 8594 and 8883.
  • Maintaining accurate tax records, documentation, and compliance data.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve tax processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in U.S. corporate taxation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Required qualifications and skills include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification is an asset but not required.
  • 2+ years of relevant tax experience, preferably involving U.S. income tax compliance.
  • Experience preparing or supporting U.S. federal and state tax filings.
  • Proficiency with U.S. income tax software such as OneSource.
  • Strong computer and data analysis skills, including intermediate Excel knowledge with pivot tables, formulas, and basic reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliver accurate work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive mindset with enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technology platforms and tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
