AI Knowledge Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI Knowledge Engineer based in the United States.

This role is focused on building the knowledge foundation that enables reliable and scalable AI-powered solutions.
The AI Knowledge Engineer will transform organizational information into structured, accessible, and reusable knowledge assets.
You will help improve how AI systems retrieve, understand, and apply critical business knowledge across applications and workflows.
The position combines knowledge management, content architecture, governance, and emerging AI technologies.
You will collaborate with business stakeholders to capture expertise, improve information quality, and support AI adoption.

Accountabilities:

The AI Knowledge Engineer will be responsible for designing, organizing, and maintaining the knowledge structures that support AI capabilities. This role requires strong expertise in information organization, content governance, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure AI systems have accurate and effective knowledge sources.

  • Build and maintain a centralized, scalable knowledge foundation that supports AI-powered experiences and enterprise applications.
  • Audit, organize, and consolidate existing knowledge assets to improve accessibility, consistency, and usability.
  • Capture institutional knowledge and critical business information during periods of transition, integration, or organizational change.
  • Structure content and documentation so it can be effectively leveraged by AI retrieval systems, agents, connectors, and applications.
  • Define and maintain taxonomy, classification frameworks, and content governance standards.
  • Create reusable documentation patterns and knowledge artifacts that improve long-term maintainability.
  • Ensure knowledge assets are accurate, structured, searchable, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Optimize content for search, retrieval, and AI-driven use cases to improve response quality and reliability.
  • Partner with stakeholders and knowledge owners to maintain relevant and up-to-date information.
  • Continuously improve knowledge management processes, quality standards, and AI enablement practices.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have experience in knowledge management, content architecture, documentation strategy, or related disciplines, with the ability to organize complex information for modern AI applications. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and stakeholder collaboration skills are essential.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Knowledge Management, Information Science, Library Science, Communications, Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in knowledge management, content architecture, documentation, taxonomy design, or similar areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure information for search, retrieval, and AI-supported workflows.
  • Strong understanding of content organization principles, metadata, classification systems, and governance practices.
  • Experience capturing institutional knowledge and creating reusable documentation resources.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and technical teams.
  • Strong quality orientation with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with AI ecosystems and how knowledge enables AI skills, connectors, agents, and applications is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple knowledge initiatives and priorities.
