General Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Education, the Family Services Clinical Field Trainer is responsible for the deployment and evaluation of all aspects of Family Services department-based onboarding, role orientation, and ongoing competency training, with special emphasis on donor process related priorities and on location clinical case activity training and process confirmation. The Clinical Field Trainer’s primary goals are to teach, support, counsel, coach, evaluate and serve as a role model to team members and serve as a dedicated partner with Family Services leadership, Training Educator and Training Specialist, facilitating all aspects of the training programs for the Family Services team. Utilizing team specific data and metrics, the Field Trainer is also responsible for assisting in process improvement and standardization initiatives in all aspects of training.
Position requires schedule flexibility to include day, night, and weekend work shifts, as well as travel to Infinite Legacy regional offices and service area donor hospitals to facilitate training processes.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Social Work, counseling, psychology; or related health or behavioral sciences field; or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
2. Three (3) years of family services, grief support, or related healthcare field with demonstrated proficiency in family support.
3. Two (2) years’ experience in preceptor, educator, mentoring, or training responsibilities, including direct observation, feedback, and performance evaluation.
4. Preferred certification in relevant discipline 9e.g. LMSW, LCSW).

• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, statutes, and codes related to organ, eye, and tissue donation.
• Experience in facilitating simulations focused on clinical skills and communication best practices with new and tenured team members.
• Extensive knowledge of training techniques, learner assessments, and performance evaluations.
• Ability to demonstrate high standards of customer service and accountability for program results.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaborative skills, relationship building, and problem analysis attributes.
• Skilled and effective in providing constructive feedback and navigating crucial conversations in the mentoring role.
• Maintains confidentiality related to all aspects of interactions with new and tenured employees as it relates to performance.
• Demonstrated expertise in conducting high-quality donation and authorization conversations with families in emotionally complex situations.
• Advanced communication skills, including the ability to navigate grief and trauma, cultural and religious considerations, family conflict, and time sensitive decision-making
• Ability to travel throughout service area to facilitate training and related activities.
• Ability to provide real-time coaching and feedback during live donor cases while maintaining professionalism and sensitivity.
• Strong understanding of donation authorization processes, hospital workflows and regulatory and ethical requirements related to donation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Collaborates with the Managers of Education and Family Services Team leadership in all aspects of comprehensive training for Family Services job roles, including the initial training period, process confirmations, regular competency evaluations, and ongoing education.
2. Facilitates a broad range of field training experiences with team members during initial training period, following established training checklists, Infinite Legacy and hospital SOPs and protocols in a supportive and positive learning environment to encourage knowledge retention and skill development.
3. Develops and deploys curriculum for Family Services training and education programs with a focus on clinical field experiences, competencies, and ongoing education.
4. Facilitates simulation programs targeted for Family Services Team members, to include developing clinical case scenarios, leading training sessions, providing debriefing venue to review progress towards training goals and offering constructive feedback.
5. Collaborates in all aspects of the evaluation and documentation of team member training, to include progress check-ins, competency assessments, focused individual training needs, as well as completing all associated documentation.
6. Monitors the performance of new employees during their initial training period, to assess any gaps in training retention or behavior and provide timely feedback to Education, Family Services and Human Resources leadership, as indicated.
7. Serves as a clinical subject matter expert (SME), with special focus on Family Services related clinical processes.
8. Provides real-time observation and coaching of Family Services staff during family approach and authorization conversations, ensuring adherence to best practices and organizational standards.
9. Participate in a work schedule that prioritizes field experiences, case activity signoffs, and process confirmation activities, based on training needs of team members.
10. Conducts structured post-case debriefings to reinforce effective communication techniques, identify learning opportunities, and support professional development.
11. Collaborate with Education Team in facilitating workshops, in-services, external tissue partner activities, and training modules related to all Family Services practices and SOPs.
12. Participate in tracking, analysis and reporting of data elements associated with Family Services training metrics. In conjunction with the Vice President of External Affairs and Education and other leadership, participates in on-going data analysis to target specific areas for improvement.
13. Analyze training needs assessments using a variety of sources, such as employee feedback, training metrics, non-conformances, process confirmation, and testing tools in support of identifying gaps in training, skills, and performance.
14. Identifies trends in communication performance and collaborates with leadership to implement targeted training initiatives.
15. Participate in ongoing initiatives with assigned personnel to track and measure competency for new and tenured team members via the use of meaningful metrics, innovative learning modalities, process confirmation, and ongoing competency maintenance.
