Facilities and Operations ManagerLocation: Bronx, NYNew York Common Pantry is one of the city’s largest hunger relief organizations, providing food assistance, case management services, senior food provision, nutrition education, and hygiene services. NYCP is a poverty-fighting organization that reduces hunger and promotes dignity, health, and self-sufficiency by using a holistic approach. Last year, we assisted over 764,000 visitors, served over 11.7 million meals, and accessed $10.7 million in public benefits resources for our guests. Through an array of programs that we offer, we look to establish long-term stability for those we serve.
The Facilities and Operations Manager will lead facility and operational functions across NYCP, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable day-to-day maintenance of all locations. This role will oversee facility operations, provide assistance with fleet management, logistics, and program operations, and supervise facilities staff. The Manager will also partner closely with Food Programs leadership, the Warehouse Operations Manager, and the Warehouse & Mobile Operations Supervisor to support seamless operations organization-wide.
The Facilities and Operations Manager will report to the Managing Director of Operations and will be based at 1285 Oak Point Avenue, Bronx, NY 10474. This is a full-time, exempt position, scheduled Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed. Travel between NYCP locations is required.
Responsibilities:
Oversee facility maintenance and day-to-day operations across multiple sites, including cleaning, repairs, preventive inspections, and safety compliance.
Maintain clear and accurate reports on maintenance issues, repairs, and safety concerns for management review.
Prepare facilities for seasonal weather changes and respond to emergencies such as flooding or equipment failure.
Manage vendor relationships, schedule routine and emergency maintenance, and oversee waste management services.
Ensure building safety and security across all locations.
Coordinate construction projects, renovations, and space improvements as needed.
Support the development and monitoring of facility and vehicle budgets, and provide recommendations for future operational needs, when needed.
Provide assistance with fleet management, including vehicle maintenance, cleanliness, repairs, inspections, and registrations, when needed.
Assist in assessing fleet needs and support funding applications for vehicle acquisition.
Oversee maintenance and repair of kitchen and facility equipment.
Provide operational support for warehouse logistics and distribution activities during high-volume periods or emergency operations.Collaborate with program leadership on inventory control, storage, and safety compliance.
Supervise facilities and operations staff, providing ongoing feedback, support, and performance evaluations.
Prepare regular facilities and operations reports for senior management.
Participate in regular supervision and operations meetings.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Management, Operations, Facilities, or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience is required.
A valid driver’s license, a clear driving record, and the ability to operate vehicles are required.
Travel between multiple job locations is required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Commitment to helping the communities in need and NYCP’s work and mission.
Experience in warehouse maintenance and inventory management systems.
Budget management and vehicle maintenance experience.
Experience managing facilities, logistics, or operations at scale.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
Comfort in a fast-paced work environment and working under tight deadlines.
Ability to work independently, lead teams, and delegate tasks effectively.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and web-based applications.
Cultural sensitivity and respect when serving diverse communities.
Weekend availability as needed.

Pay: $65,000 - $76,000
