Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Risk Strategist, Onboarding and Compliance in the United States.
This role sits at the intersection of financial regulation, product innovation, and technical risk design within a fast-scaling global financial technology environment. You will help shape how onboarding, compliance, and risk controls are built into new financial products, ensuring they are both regulatorily sound and scalable for global expansion. Working closely with product, engineering, legal, and compliance teams, you will translate complex regulatory and payment network requirements into clear, actionable system designs. The role involves building frameworks that support KYC/KYB processes, funds flow integrity, and cross-border payment compliance. You will also influence how new financial products are launched safely across lending, issuing, and financial account infrastructure. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role where regulatory expertise meets product strategy and data-driven decision-making. You will operate in a fast-moving environment where precision, clarity, and speed are equally critical.
- Design and implement risk-based onboarding and compliance frameworks (KYC/KYB) across financial account, credit, issuing, and payment products, ensuring alignment with regulatory and operational requirements.
- Translate complex financial regulations and payment network rules into structured technical requirements for product and engineering teams, supporting scalable system design.
- Develop and document compliant funds flow models for global payment systems, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and adherence to regional scheme requirements such as ACH, RTP, SEPA, and FPS.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and other risk stakeholders to ensure consistent implementation of controls across the product lifecycle.
- Build and maintain detailed compliance documentation, including policies, standards, and technical specifications supporting audits and regulatory reviews.
- Use data analysis to evaluate risk exposure, measure control effectiveness, and support strategic decision-making for onboarding and compliance optimization.
- Engage with external financial partners to present compliance strategies and build trust in onboarding and risk management approaches.
- Support international expansion by adapting compliance frameworks to new regulatory environments and payment ecosystems.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk strategy, product risk, audit, or similar roles within fintech, financial services, payments, or banking environments.
- Proven experience designing and implementing KYC/KYB programs for onboarding business or merchant customers at scale.
- Strong ability to translate regulatory and compliance requirements into technical documentation and actionable engineering requirements.
- Experience working directly with product and engineering teams in a highly technical environment, contributing to system design and implementation decisions.
- Demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional initiatives involving Legal, Compliance, Risk, and external partners.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience using data to evaluate risk, measure control effectiveness, and inform strategic decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to external financial partners or regulators.
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with strong judgment and prioritization skills.
- Preferred: Experience with US regulations such as TILA, ECOA, UDAAP, CIP/CDD, or deep expertise in global payment schemes and funds flow architecture (ACH, SEPA, RTP, FPS).
- Preferred: SQL proficiency, familiarity with AI-assisted workflows, and exposure to digital assets or stablecoin-based payment systems.
Benefits:
- Competitive base compensation with performance-based incentives
- Equity opportunities in a high-growth global technology company
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Remote-friendly work environment within the United States
- Flexible time off and supportive work-life balance policies
- Retirement savings plans with employer contributions
- Opportunities for international exposure and cross-functional career growth
- Access to advanced tools, data platforms, and AI-enabled workflows
