This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to build technology that directly supports efforts to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse.
You will take ownership of significant features and system components within a mission-critical Victim Identification platform.
Working alongside engineers, Product, and mission-focused partners, you will turn complex user needs into scalable technical solutions.
You will independently lead projects, make thoughtful design decisions, and maintain high standards for reliability, performance, and quality.
The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, mentoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
You will work in a highly distributed and collaborative environment where clear communication, empathy, and thoughtful problem-solving are essential.
Your work will have a meaningful real-world impact by helping technology and data empower global efforts to protect children.

Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with engineers to build, maintain, and evolve scalable production systems and applications from end to end.
  • Independently own complex features and projects, gathering input from teammates, breaking down technical challenges, and communicating progress clearly to stakeholders.
  • Lead technical discussions and work closely with Product and Engineering partners to define requirements and develop practical, high-quality solutions.
  • Translate user problems into effective technical solutions while clearly communicating architectural decisions, tradeoffs, and constraints to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Apply sound design and implementation judgment within areas of ownership, contributing to system reliability, scalability, maintainability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Write production-quality code, participate in thorough code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to on-call rotations and incident response.
  • Identify technical risks, edge cases, and potential system constraints early, working collaboratively to resolve them before they become larger issues.
  • Strengthen the engineering team by sharing expertise, mentoring teammates, providing constructive feedback, and supporting colleagues when needed.
  • Contribute to improved engineering practices, documentation, and team processes while fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-ready software systems.
  • Strong software engineering and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound design and implementation decisions independently.
  • Experience taking ownership of complex technical projects and breaking ambiguous or evolving requirements into manageable, high-quality solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in writing clear, maintainable, reliable code with a high standard of engineering craftsmanship.
  • Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs, communicate decisions effectively, incorporate feedback, and collaborate with stakeholders across technical and non-technical functions.
  • Proactive approach to identifying technical risks, edge cases, reliability concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in highly distributed teams where documentation, messaging, and code reviews are central to collaboration.
  • Ability to work effectively in an evolving environment, adapt to changing requirements, and balance technical quality with practical delivery.
  • Commitment to keeping the needs and safety of the children served at the center of your work.
  • Experience with technologies such as Python 3, TypeScript, React, Ant Design, AWS, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, and Datadog is highly relevant.

Benefits

  • Estimated annual compensation range of $129,000–$178,250, depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, training, licensure, and certifications.
  • Remote-first work model designed primarily around working from home.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with mission-driven professionals across technology, data, product, and other disciplines.
  • Company-wide gatherings, team meetings, team-building activities, conferences, and other opportunities for in-person collaboration and professional connection.
  • Work on technology with a meaningful social impact, supporting efforts to protect children and strengthen global law enforcement capabilities.
  • Inclusive and collaborative environment that values diverse professional backgrounds, expertise, cultures, experiences, and perspectives.
  • Commitment to reasonable workplace accommodations and an environment where qualified employees can fully participate and thrive.
